This is set in the Angel Beats world. Technically everyone is dead… but still. If you’ve seen the anime you’ll understand. 

“What are you talking about Otonashi?” Ayato Naoi asked while being dragged to the lunchroom by his senior, Yuzuru Otonashi. “Face it Ayato. You can’t spend all your time here antagonizing the other SSS members and following me around. I think it is time you found another friend you can spend time with.” Otonashi said and opened the doors. NPC’s, students and other SSS members wandered the lunchroom and ate a variety of foods. “But I don’t need other friends. I am god after all. I don’t need anyone else.” Ayato boasted. “You just keep thinking that.” Otonashi sighed. “How about over there! She is nice. I kind of know her from SSS rallies.” He pointed across the room. 

Sitting there was a girl with (h/l), (h/c) hair and bright (e/c) eyes. You lazily picked at (f/food) while reading a book. There weren’t a lot of people who read in the school, especially at lunch. But you were bored to death. Wanting to be doing something fun or exciting, your dream was fulfilled in the scenes of the book. Ayato glared at you from afar then turned to his friend. “But I don’t need another friend. She looks boring anyway…” he commented. “Come on. Just talk to her at least.” Otonashi pushed Ayato toward the table. “I don’t even know her name!” Ayato yelled. “It’s _____.” Otonashi said and slammed his hand on the table. You jumped and yelped slightly at such action. “Oh. Otonashi. Hey there.” You said plainly and marked your book. “Do you need something or is it just a friendly visit?” You smiled slightly. “I’m here to introduce you to my friend. But I think you’ve already heard of him. This is Ayato Naoi. Play nice okay? Bye bye!” He said quickly and ran off laughing slightly.

With a shake of your head, you looked over and glanced at his comrade. Ayato had dark-green/blackish hair that reached his chin. His yellowish eyes contrasted his whole appearance, but they were amazing. His black uniform stood out compared to the lighter uniforms all the other students wore. But it looked… quite attractive on him. Though now he wore a frown and glared after his friend. In reality, Ayato was fighting the urge to run after Otonashi, but since this is what he wanted, Ayato figured he better try at least. He sighed and turned to you. “Hey I’m sorry about Otonashi just running off. It was kind of rude.” He said. 

Ayato didn’t want anything to do with you at the moment. But he figured the least he could do was be civilized. “I am god. Or called here, Ayato Naoi. It is nice to meet you.” He said and offered his hand to you. You took his hand and beamed up at him. “I’m _____ _______. It’s nice to meet you as well. Do you want to sit down? Or have you not eaten yet? You are welcome to my food if you want.” You said and pushed your tray near him. Ayato glanced at the tray. It was (f/food) and some rice. He wasn’t all that hungry but he figured he better eat something. Better than wasting a meal ticket right? He took the rice bowl from your tray, along with some chopsticks and began to eat. You smiled softly at him and fiddled with your bookmark. “So… you’re friends with Otonashi?” you asked. “That’s what he said didn’t he?” Ayato snapped slightly. You winced. “Well gee mister snippy. I didn’t ask for this.” You frowned. “Neither did I.” 

With a groan you grabbed your book and made to stand up. “Wait.” You heard. Raising your eyebrows and glaring haughtily you met his gaze. He looked away, obviously embarrassed. “I’m sorry. That was uncalled for. And after you gave me your food… I am sorry _____.” He spoke softly. With a slight smirk you sat back down. “Damn right you are.” You laughed. His head whipped around to see you laughing. While you were slightly arrogant, you met his quips with a bite of your own. He chuckled a little. “It’s alright Ayato.” You smiled. That was when the bell rang. “Oops. Gotta go.” You said. “Wait, you actually go to class?” he asked incredulously. You scoffed at his words. “Of course not! I think I’m gonna go to the roof. Bye Ayato!” you smiled and took off. “Bye ____....” His words were lost in the bustle around him. 

TIME SKIP

A couple weeks passed and you and Ayato had grown closer. Right now you two were on the steps next to the large fountain, laughing about the gullibleness of Hinata. Little did you and Ayato know, you were being watched. 

Otonashi and Kanade (“Angel”) were staring down at the pair of you, Otonashi with binoculars. “I think I see love…” he sang quietly. “Love?” Kanade asked. “Yeah don’t you see it?” Otonashi questioned. Kanade shook her head. “Look. See how Ayato keeps glancing at _____ when they finish laughing? He’s watching her smile. No doubt it makes him feel happy. And _____ keeps joking just to hear him laugh. I can see it Kanade!” Otonashi smiled. “Oh. Look, Ayato’s body temperature is rising.” Kanade said. “He’s probably thinking about kissing her. Let’s watch!” Otonashi picked up the binoculars again. “Isn’t that… wrong?” she asked. “Of course not! We are their friends. It’s perfectly alright.”  And with that, they watched.

Sure enough, Ayato was feeling something weird. I am god, I shouldn’t be feeling… tingly. He thought. But still… he was. With every glance at your… perfect face, he would feel a slight blush rise to his cheeks. And your laughter blew him away. Everything about you turned him to mush. You were perfect in his eyes. Not that he would ever admit that. 

You had been feeling the same. Every time Ayato would tell you a joke, or even complain about another person, you couldn’t help but smile. Granted, every once and a while you two would fight, but it would blow over quickly. You were now good friends with him. Though… you wanted to be more than friends. But he was god, he wouldn’t fall for a lowly SSS member like you. 

You had zoned out while thinking about this and Ayato was slowly advancing. His hands were shaking slightly as his face neared yours.

“Kiss her. You get her Ayato!!” Otonashi cheered softly on the rooftop. He didn’t want to ruin the moment after all. 

But suddenly you snapped back to the real world and turned your head fully towards Ayato. He was stunned and quickly pulled away. “Sorry, I thought you had something on your face.” He scratched the back of his neck and looked away awkwardly. “DAMMIT!!!” was yelled and heard throughout the school. You and Ayato looked around as to who could be the source of the voice, but Otonashi and Kanade had already ducked down. The sun was setting and you two stood up. The way the sun kissed your (h/c) locks made you appear like an angel. Ayato bit his lip and made a quick decision. 

Looking straight into your eyes, he thought for a moment. “Ayato?” You cocked your head at his odd actions. Then he struck. Using his hypnotism, he spoke clearly. “_____, say…” he paused for a moment and contemplated his decision, but he wanted to hear it. “Say you love me.” You two stared at each other for a long moment. His eyes held determination and longing, while yours… well you were hypnotized. Then you burst out laughing. Ayato was filled with shock at this. “Ayato… your hypnotism doesn’t work on me silly.” You smiled. His heart broke. What he wanted he would never get now that you knew. He went to turn away and say he was sorry but…

Your arms quickly flew around his neck and pulled his lips down to yours. It was a short and sweet kiss. And when you pulled away, you stared happily into his yellow eyes. “But you don’t need to hypnotize me in order to get what you want. I love you Ayato.” You smiled shyly. A huge blush broke out on both your faces and he laughed a little. “I love you too ____.” Then you two kissed again. 

“WHOO HOOO!!!!” Otonashi screamed and danced around with Kanade. “My little boy is all grown up!”

Shirou:Hahahaha...the last part was sooo funny....
Ayato:I kissed a random girl!? How could you make me fall in love with a puny human? *turns to Otonashi* except for you! You are smart,intelegent!
Ren:Somehow...
Shirou:He really reminds me of Afuro.
Ren:Yeah...
Ayato:I AM GOD! I CANNOT FALL IN LOVE WITH A PUNY HUMAN!
Ren:Yeah,Afuro #2.
