Dreaming has always been something I look forward to. The moments when I can drift away to the abyss of my imagination in the depths of the night are what I wait all day long for. These dreams are always so vivid, yet confusing. I can normally only remember bits and pieces of them, like other people. Each and every one of these dreams seem to have a deep meaning that I have yet to discover, and that always leaves me yearning to know more when I awake.
Currently, I am amidst a dream of darkness, nothingness. There is only me, and I seem to be following a faint purple light in the distance. A plain white, flowy dress adorns my body and my brunette hair is up in a somewhat messy bun. An overwhelming aura of sadness accompanies the darkness and I even manage to shed a few tears. I begin to walk faster and faster, until suddenly I break into a run, a sense of desire bursts through my thoughts as I rush towards this mysterious light. I'm almost there. I reach out my hand. My fingers graze the light, slightly illuminated in the now rich purple glow. It feels... cold.
Violet...
Violet...
"Violet!"
I jolt up in bed as sleep leaves me and the reality of the morning seeps into my head. The dream starts to slowly disintegrate from my memory as I meet the eyes of my best friend, Tessa.
"C'mon its already 7!" she exclaims, obviously exasperated by the fact that I was not already awake and getting ready for school by now. I groan and slowly get out of bed and head towards my bathroom. Tessa continues to talk to me as I wash my face and brush my teeth.
"Your mom left a note, she had to run into work early and she won't be back till late tonight."
"Alright," I sigh as I finish up. She's been having long work days like that a lot this month. I look at my reflection in my mirror, my light brown, almost golden eyes are tired, and my semi-tan skin is spotless of acne for once. When I return to my room Tessa has already picked out my outfit, faded skinny jeans, a black cami and a black and white short-sleeved cardigan. Typical of her. She comes back from rummaging around in my closet, content in finding a pair of simple black flats.
"I can always count on you Tess," I say with a hint of sarcasm. She scowls and begins to rant to me about how I couldn't live without her as I begin to get dressed.
Tessa has strawberry-blonde hair with a hint of auburn, hazel eyes, and is in complete denial that she's obviously the prettier of the two of us. She's always well put together, and is some sort of fashion guru. Today she has on black, slightly ripped jeans with gray knee-high combat boots and a simple gray V-neck short sleeve shirt. She picks out a small dream catcher necklace from my jewelry box to complete her look.
"Hurry up Vi! Its already 7:15 were gonna be late!" She yells while grabbing both our bags and heading downstairs.
I quickly outline my eyes with eyeliner and apply a small amount of mascara. I brush my hair as I take one last look in the mirror, contemplating putting my hair up, but decide I dont have time, I leave it down and wavy. I grab my flats and begin to catch up to Tessa, scattered thoughts of my dream still run through the back of my mind.
