They thought they could capture me, huh? What a bunch of fools. They were no match for me... and my creation. As long as I controlled every security system in this university, I would slip from their grasp. Every. Single. Time.
I tilted my head back, running my fingers through my hair. A giggle escaped me, then I threw my head back in laughter.
"HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!"
"You sure took your time."
"HA-HA-HA-Huh?"
I turned around to see a guy with a royal blue armband on his right sleeve. His fringe covered his eyes, but I could tell that he was staring at me. He was leaning against the rooftop door, arms crossed over his chest.
"You think you're clever, but you're not. You tried to be unpredictable... yet you ended up being predictable."
Landice... Why is he here?
"Airene," I muttered, glancing at my wireless earpiece, "I thought no one was on the rooftop."
<Apologies. I detected no signal from an ID chip in this area.>
I clicked my tongue. This guy must have removed his ID card so we could not detect him.
"Surrender now, Wysiwyg Watson," he said, walking toward me with his hands in his pockets. "This is basically checkmate."
Checkmate?
If I surrendered now, everything I had built over the past few months would crumble. The raging fire I had started would be extinguished.
There was no way I could allow that—could I?
