"Number four is sixteen over five or negative sixteen over five." She mumbled.

"Good, Hannah, that's correct." Mr. Black nodded, turning his back to the class once again to scribble the next equation on the board. She was battling herself in order to stay awake in the first period of the day. She was up late last night studying, like usual. Even though she wanted nothing more to close her eyes again and not open them for a few decades, she was still on top of her game in the classroom.

Hannah took great pride in the fact that her level of intelligence was a unique gift, but she was far from being alone. She rested her trust in the girls who were almost as smart as her, each of them special and different in their own ways. These few girls were what Hannah believed to be all the friends she'd ever want or need, but she got along with mostly everyone.

Besides the recognition she received for her smarts, she was also known as the captain of the football team's twin sister. Hannah and Hayden were exact opposites in just about everything except for the fact that, well, they were twins. Go figure.

Now, at the end of her junior year, she felt content but sometimes she couldn't help but feel like there was something missing. Hannah knew that was ridiculous, her grades, friends, and future are great and her home situation is fairly tolerable what else could she want or need? Well, she was still trying to figure that out.

"This equation is sort of like what Hannah just said. In the parenthesis..." She was quick to scare off those thoughts creeping up on her when the voice next to her mentioned her name. His name was Ryan, and Hannah had developed quite a serious crush on him. Ryan adorned dusty blond hair and plain black t-shirt coupled with a worn in pair of jeans. She loved the fact that he was just as smart as her, and that he was just plain nice to her. Hannah appreciated that and had a great amount of respect for him. Most boys incessantly spoke of things like football and food which made for anemic conversations, which didn't interest Hannah to say the least.

Even though she could be considered popular, she hadn't had the best luck with boys, which she knew probably wouldn't change with Ryan. Hannah tried to pay attention and stop fawning over him. He was now effortlessly talking about the assignment that the class was going over.

He was talking, he didn't talk very much, so Hannah was listening now. It was nerdy, but there was something so intriguing about the way he knowledgeably talked about something. She was greatly attracted to intelligence, but this was something different. She couldn't quite put her finger on what it was, but she felt like he had a gravitational pull on her and she didn't mind one bit.

On the other hand, Ryan felt as if she was a magnet and he couldn't stay away from her. He was almost addicted to her personality, the way she had a big smile on her face and how she treated everyone with respect and compassion. Ryan felt like a blush was about to creep up on his cheeks. The mere thought of the girl he was infatuated with staring at him made him dizzy.

She was, yet again, startled out of her daydream when instead of being met with a white dry erase board, stormy blue eyes greeted her.

"Hey," His half smile was the cutest thing she'd ever seen, no question.

Ryan was dying to know what she thought of him, particularly what she was thinking at that very moment as her eyes are trained on him. She couldn't be staring at him for the reasons that he stared at her, he told himself.

Hannah didn't notice she was staring. This wasn't the first crush she's had; she knows all of the thoughts and the feelings that accompany liking a boy, even though they were all futile efforts. Hannah tried to ignore that little voice in the back of her head that told her that she knows this a little too well.
