"Let me in!" Is what I first heard when I woke up. It was around 1:30 AM, when I heard knocking behind my door repeatedly. "Let me in, I said!" But I couldn't tell who was behind the door. "Mom, is that you?" I asked in a low tone, hoping not to wake others. "Let me in now. Supper is ready!" That same voice kept repeating the same lines. "But my mom is dead. So who exactly are you?"
No response. I was hesitant about whether to walk closer, but before I could take a relieving breath, I heard a loud bang on the door. "Let me in!" The voice was harsh, almost desperate, sending a chill down my spine. I froze, unsure if I should move or stay hidden. My eyes were pure white as I couldn't even move a muscle. My heart pounded in my chest, and I currently do not have a plan if this thing breaks in. What should I do? Do I just stand still? Will I die? What does the afterlife look like? I decided to close my eyes, and let that thing take me.
But that's when everything was silent. Am I dead? I opened my eyes, and noticed I'm still in my room. It took me a few seconds to realize but there was a sharp ax piercing through my door. I stepped closer to the door, thinking that the thing was gone. The ax slowly pulled away from the door, leaving a deep groove in the wood. I peeked through, but nothing was there. I slowly opened the door, hearing a loud creak caused by the door. My heart raced as I scanned the darkness, searching for any sign of the creature. I just saw the plain, windy night sky.
I looked down to notice a white, pale creature laying down with an ax on its back. "What is that thing?" I whisper. I didn't wanna get closer to it, nor did I want to touch it.
I recalled having a book about different kinds of creatures. I rushed back to my nightstand and grabbed a book on folklore. I skimmed through the pages, searching for a creature that resembled what I had just seen. Eventually, a chill ran down my spine as I realized what had tried to break into my room. I started to shake lightly, my eyes widening. I looked back and forth between the creature and the one in the book. That creature that almost killed me was a skinwalker, and who knows if more could be lurking in this area.
