The emperor protects his domain, not with violence and bloodshed, but rather by a complicated set of arranged marriages.
The Atreids have married the Troiia. The Belvues have married the Battenburgs. The Medici have married the Hapsburgs. The Spartii have married the Safavids.
This complicated web binds the noble houses, preventing mayhem and uprising. As families can not strike each other, peace has been metted out in the most... indirect of ways.
