"Young Lightbulb, you ready for tonight's story?" A woman's voice called out as the light flickered. Child Lightbulb smiled as she lied in bed, eager to hear the story.

"Yeah!" Lightbulb said to her mother as the light once again flickered. "Alright," her mother said to her daughter in an uneasy voice. "Try not to get nightmares because this one might be scary."

"A long, long time ago, the world was at peace. Children thrived under the care of the Lesser Gods, and prosperity spread through the world. But, in this hour, many spirits grew jealous."

Lightbulb hugged her crab plush as she listened to her mother tell the story.

"And that was when the Long-tailed Bird was forged. It seemed to be made of the greed of the spirits. It attacked without warning, leaving waste to our once glorious home. Many elderly succumbed to the Bird, and their souls were taken away, building the Bird's tail longer."

"Mom?" Lightbulb looked up at her mother from under the covers, squeezing her crab plush. "Is the Long-tailed Bird still around now?"

Lightbulb's mother looked down at her daughter, cupping her cheek. "Sadly, yes, but we're safe."

"You promise?" Lightbulb asked in a quiet voice.


"I promise"
