𝗈𝗆𝗇𝗂𝗌𝖼𝗂𝖾𝗇𝗍ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ After wrapping up another interview with Darrian, Star felt relieved but still a little worn out. The back-and-forth had gone smoothly, but the air between them was still thick with unspoken words.
They'd managed to get through it for the cameras, but things still felt tense. Star was glad to be done for the day.
As she left the studio, her phone buzzed with a message from Anastasia: "You still good for Dolton Bowl tonight?"
Star texted back quickly, "Yeah, on my way."
Dolton Bowl wasn't far from where Star was, so she made it there in about ten minutes. Pulling up, she spotted Anastasia waiting by the entrance, scrolling on her phone. She looked up when Star got close and smiled, a little shy, almost like it was their first time hanging out again.
"Hey," Star greeted, shoving her hands into her jacket pockets. "Long time no see."
"Hey yourself," Anastasia replied, stepping closer. "You look tired. Long day?"
Star shrugged, brushing it off. "Just interviews and stuff. Glad it's over."
They walked into the bowling alley together, the familiar sound of pins crashing and chatter filling the space. They rented shoes and picked a lane, talking in between about nothing too deep—just light stuff, like what they'd been up to and new music they'd heard.
After a few practice rolls, Anastasia spoke up, "So, how's things with Darrian?"
Star hesitated. She wasn't sure she wanted to get into it but didn't want to brush Anastasia off either. "It's... complicated," she said finally, watching her ball glide down the lane and knock over a few pins.
"Complicated, huh?" Anastasia raised an eyebrow. "You don't gotta tell me everything, but y'all good?"
Star shrugged, sitting down. "I don't even know, honestly. We're cool but it just seems like it's for the cameras now. Can't even say what exactly happened."
Anastasia nodded, grabbing her ball. "Sounds frustrating. But maybe y'all just need time? Or, like, a real talk or something."
"Yeah, maybe." Star sighed, resting her chin on her hand. Anastasia sent her a small smile before stepping up to take her turn.
They continued bowling, the conversation lightening up, laughing every time one of them messed up a shot. Star felt herself relaxing more, appreciating how natural it was to be around Anastasia again. At some point, she realized she was having fun without even thinking about Darrian or any other drama.
