Knight (Book 1 - Singhania Brothers)

Prologue

Avinash sighed heavily as he patted his foot on the floor rapidly. It was his live concert in few moments and his whole body was shaking due to some unknown reason. It wasn't the first time he was performing but the feeling was even worse than the one he had on his first concert. Araansh and Ayaansh exchanged looks after looking at their Bhai. They had seen him all fine till morning but he was sweating a lot lately since some time back.

Araansh and Ayaansh took a breath of relief when they say Akshay walking in the green room. Akshay looked at Avinash who had his eyes closed and sweating badly. He looked at the twins who shrugged their shoulders. Akshay nodded as a signal for the twins to wait outside who quietly obliged. Akshay silently approached Avinash and ran his fingers through his hair. "Bhaiya," Avinash called out gently, his eyes still closed. Akshay smiled fondly. "Ha bacha, yahi hu mai. Bol kya hua?" Akshay asked, his fingers still running in Avinash's hair soothingly. 

Avinash leaned towards his brother. "Pata nahi, bhaiya. Bohot ghabrat ho rahi hai," Avinash muttered as Akshay hummed questioningly. "Aru aur Ayu kaha gaye?" Avinash asked as he moved away from Akshay's warmth. 

"Avi," Akshay called out softly as Avinash turned to him. The calmness in Akshay's eyes soothed Avinash a bit but not completely. Akshay cupped Avinash's face gently and placed a soft kiss on his forehead. "I am always proud of you, bacha. No matter what happen, your bhaiya will love you always," Akshay knew Avinash had been under confident due to their family always criticising him for his profession. He don't know how but these simple words of his, always does magic on Avinash.

Avinash's lips curled into a smile that tugged Akshay's heart. "I know, bhaiya," Akshay knew that was not disturbing his brother but something else. He gently caressed his face. "Kya ho raha hai bacha?"

Avinash sighed as he leaned back on the chair he was sitting. "Wahi toh pata nahi, bhaiya."

"Calm yourself down, Avi. Try to give the best that your heart wants. Sing the way that pleases no one but you. I know you can do it, bacha," Avinash took a deep breath and nodded. "I'll do it, bhaiya," Avinash stood up so did Akshay. Avinash passed a small smile to Akshay as the latter caressed his hair. Avinash bent forward and touched Akshay's feet who patted his head softly and straighten him up. Avinash always did that before performing anywhere. His bhaiya's blessings was a lucky charm for him.

"I know you'll rock as usual, bacha," Avinash chuckled. "Thank you for having so much trust in me when no body thought to have it, bhaiya," Akshay's smile diminished for a second but he flashed it again.

"Beeti baatein bhul ja bacha,"  Akshay said as Avinash nodded. He picked up his guitar and walked out of the room. Araansh and Ayaansh, who stood outside immediately reached for him.

"Aap theek ho na, bhai?" They asked in unison. Avinash chuckled and nodded. Araansh and Ayaansh held either of his hands and gave each other a nod before placing a soft kiss on back of his palm. "Best of luck, bhai," Avinash smiled bright as he caressed their heads and nodded softly before walking away.

Avinash stood in the centre of the concert stage. The crowd around cheered for him loudly. Avinash shut his eyes for a moment as his grip on the mic got tighter. When Avinash opened his eyes, a sheen of tears was clearing visible in them. He waved his hand in the air as the crowed cheered more loud. Avinash tugged the few strings of his guitar as the crowd silenced immediately. They all were well aware of Avinash Singhania's ways.

"Today is the day when I lost someone close to me," Avinash controlled the sobs he immediately wanted to break in. The crowed listen him silently. Araansh and Ayaansh looked at their bhaiya who's eyes were fixed at their bhai but little did he realized that his own eyes were glistening. The twins held his either hands and gave a little squeeze in assurance.

"I don't know where you are watching us from but I only wish you stay happy wherever you are. The song of the day is for you," Avinash's voice whimpered a little. His fingers reached strings as he ran his fingers upon them as his melodious voice came along.

Saathi rey thoda thehar ja
Abhi raaste kuch badal se jaayenge
O saathi rey thoda thehar ja
Yeh paanv bhi ab sambhal se jaayenge

"Happy birthday, idiot. Khush reh sahi salamat reh aur badiya ban meri tarah. Stop being a bookworm all the time. Live your life, stupid," A voice ran in Avinash's mind.

Phir wohi barsaat hogi
Aur ashq saare dhul se jaayenge
Roshni din-raat hogi
Aur sab jharokhe khul se jaayenge

"Avi yaar tu bhi na bas. At least keep this book aside of yours on my performance day."

Kehna tha aur kya kya mujhe
Neend kyun aa gayi phir tujhe

"How dare you do that man? Touch him again and I'll make you'll never be able to stand on your feet next day,"

Abhi mausamon ka badalna baaki hai
O saathi rey thoda thehar ja
Kuch door saath chalna baaki hai

"Na Avi! Singing isn't my passion but hobby and I'm very happy to keep it that way."

Phir unhi raaston pe
Tere mere kadmon ka milna baaki hai
Dard mein, ranjishon mein
Sang bujhna aur jalna baaki hai

"I'll always stay by your side, Avi. Dead or alive, doesn't matter."

Yaara tu hi toh bandagi hai
Yaara tu hi duaa
Yaara kaisi ye berukhi hai
Kyun judaa tu huaa
Haan tere aur meri darmiyaan
Ab bhi baki hai ik daastaan.

"I love you, Avi."

Avinash couldn't control the tears anymore that made his way through his eyes. Akshay's own eyes filled up on remembering him. The raw pain in Avinash's voice cut deep through everyone's soul. The crowd cried along with him. Avinash wiped his tears and waved as the crowd get it's enthusiasm back.

Before anyone could understand anything, a gunshot echoed in everyone's ears. The crowd yelled out loud and panicked. All Akshay could see was Avinash falling on his knees and blood soaking his shirt. He fell unconscious on the stage itself scaring the hell out of him and the twins.
