Maya's Point of View

"So, here's the thing. I wish there was something interesting to say about me, I mean I love reading books but I am not straight up obsessed with it. I would love to go to new places and explore but I hate getting out of my bed. Maybe I should get a pet-"

"Ugh- This is straight up annoying. Why a computers major has to write about themselves?" I yelled to absolutely no one. Well, maybe myself. Why do I have nothing interesting happening in my life.

"Dude, chill. Just take mine and rewrite it. We are in different classes, no one would know." Sara propped herself on her arms as she looked at me while laying on her back on the grass. I could not tell her expressions if she was being sincere or not because of that big ass sunglasses.

"But-"

"Maya, relax. It's not like you are going to get graded or something. Just a stupid protocol." Sara said as now she again leaned back and laid on the grass.

It was a good day, yes. It was one of those days when there was sun out but the winds kept it cool. Everyone was out today, and college gardens were never so crowded. Clear sky, chirpy gossips and classes off, it was a perfect day if it was not for this stupid essay. Infact , it was so damn perfect that me and Sara, a computer major and a physics major, who never get classes off together have classes off together.

"Oh, I forgot. What happened to Syed? Did he message you?" I asked her. Syed was a guy from her class who fancied her, looked good too, maybe not Sara level good but yeah and seemed polite.

"Clingy." Was all she said. I closed my laptop and placed it back in my bag and laid back beside her.

"My brother is gonna take me shopping before his trip to Italy tomorrow. Wanna join?" Sara asked.

"Nah. I gotta go to the café. Then get back to studying." Lies. As if I study, ever.

"Lies. What is your problem with my brother? You have like never met him. Trust me, he is a nice dude." She said, finally removing her glasses and turning on her side to look at me. Her green eyes scrunched in question as well as annoyance.

"It's not like that-"

"As if. You have been cancelling our plans back and forth as soon as you get to know my brother would be around. Knowing that you have never met him or texted him or anything, I know he is not creeping you out, so what is the problem?"

I was stunned for a moment. Well maybe I have been cancelling our plans or moving them away from her brother intentionally. To be honest, I do not know I have been doing that myself.

"I don't know...It's awkward, I guess. I mean, I know so much about him but it's like I have never met him."

"So... meet him." She said looking with her try me face. I sat up properly and buried my face in my hands, took a few breaths and looked back at her.

"Ugh... stop messing with me. I never knew him when we were in high school, or when you applied to college. You talked about him always but now he is back in your life. I know he is your brother, and your only family but I am not in terms with it yet ok?" I said.

"Okieee." She too sat up beside me. Wearing back her sunglasses, she ran her hands through her pin-straight hair, smoothing it out and making it look even more flawless.

"Babes, I know you are just anxious but I am happy to have him back in my life. I will always love you the most but seriously you gotta meet him man. He is my only family and I fucking know you aunts and uncles even back from India." She said as she stood up and picked her bag, our coffee and some of my books I had out. I pocketed my phone and stood up too, taking my bag.
