Meet Emilio.
Emilio is not your average Joe. He's a skateboard with a gnarly attitude and a penchant for adventure. His days are spent gliding down the streets of Venice Beach, catching air off the curbs, and carving up the concrete like its butter. Emilio's got a scratched up pink and blue geometric deck and four wheels that are as loyal as they come. He's seen it all, from the early morning surfers to the late-night street performers, but today is different. There's a new kid in town, and Emilio can feel it in his bolts.
The kid's name is Summer. She's got long brown hair and a pair of boat shoes that look like they've seen their fair share of action. Summer is awkward, to say the least. Her movements are jerky, and she's got the balance of a newborn giraffe-but Emilio could see the determination in her eyes, and the determination she had, deserved his respect. Most kids come and go, but summer keeps coming back, continuously pushing herself to get better. Emilio felt a kinship with the kid, like they were two peas in a pod, like a grip tape and a shoe, sticking together through thick and thin.
One day, Summer tried a simple ollie for the hundredth time, and for the hundredth time, she face planted. Emilio felt the impact vibrate through his trucks, but he knew better than to laugh. Every skater starts somewhere, and Emilio's been around long enough to know that the only way to get better is to get back up, take a breather, and try again. He watched vigilantly as summer dusted herself off. “The kid's got grit”, he thought to himself. Emilio could feel himself starting to get attached. He's had a bunch of owners before, but none of them had a heart like Summer’s.
"Come on, buddy," Emilio whispered to himself, as if Summer could hear him. "You've got this." Summer nodded her head with determination. She lined up for another attempt, and this time, for the first time, when she popped the tail, something clicked. The board left the ground, and for a brief, glorious moment, summer was flying. Emilio soared with her, the world, a blur beneath his wheels. From an outsiders’ view, it didn't look like all that much. It was a quick flip. However, in Emilio’s eyes, although it wasn't Tony Hawk pretty, it was still a great start. Emilio couldn’t help but feel proud of Summer and her accomplishment. A thrill of excitement sparked his wheels. He thought... maybe, just maybe, they could be unstoppable together.
