"Go with the sexy one." Sadie urged. We were out buying dresses. She and Jordan were having a New Year's Eve party and Taylor was taking me out on our first official date.
"Sadie, you go with the sexy one. I think I'm going to stick with classy for the night. "
"What about this one?" Sadie held up a gold sequin dress. It was short, but had long sleeves. I wasn't sure about the length. I'm sure Taylor would love it, so I tried it on.
"Nope. Not happening. Get me a long one." I told Sadie while I put my clothes back on. She handed me three dresses. One was pink with gold sequins and an open back. One was gold, short, and an opening in the back. The last was long, silver, and just what I was looking for.
I tried it on and stepped out to show Sadie. "That's the one. That's what you're getting."
"And you wanted me to settle for sexy."
"Oh I can tell you that Taylor will think it's sexy."
I payed for the dress, regretting that I would have to carry it around with me while we shopped for makeup and shoes for Sadie. I spent enough on the dress that I was completely fine with wearing a pair of heels I already owned, especially now that all of my shoes were in Edmonton with me.
"So, is Taylor picking you up at your apartment?"
"Yeah, he's finishing up the packing and then coming to get me."
"Must be where Jordan is. You really need to get your own car, you know that?"
"Southern girl driving on ice. Somehow that sounds like a bad idea to me? Especially in a lifted Chevy."
"Matching trucks for the lovers?"
"Gross." I cringed.
"What?"
"Fords. Matching trucks. The word 'lover's." Those three things made me shudder.
"Get outta my car." She joked as I gathered my bags.
I stumbled into my apartment, falling over a box. Someone grabbed me from behind, spun me around, and planted their lips on mine.
"Hello there handsome. What are you doing here?"
"Dropping off boxes. Don't worry, I'll leave so you can take a nap."
"No, help me make the bed first. I got super soft new sheets and a down comforter." His wasn't warm enough for me. But now I wouldn't be getting out of bed.
"What's in the garment bag?"
"You'll see it tonight."
"On you or the floor?" I threw the sheets at his chest, hoping the cardboard and packaging would hurt him.
"Keep it in your pants for a night, would ya?"
"If that's what you want."
"I want a romantic evening and that's what I'm going to get."
"Yeah, of course. Anything for you." He rolled his eyes, opening the sheets. "But we should probably wash these first before making the bed."
I laughed, of course. That would be logical.
"How long were you going to let me do this?" I fell back on the mattress.
"Until I had to start working."
"I kind of want to just eat Chinese food and watch the Avengers and X-Men all night."
"We could do that, save me some money. But I think that you have a pretty dress and a hair appointment coming up in an hour or a little more than that."He was right. I did want the opportunity to dress up and go all out since it was New Year's Eve. "We don't have to go to the party after."
