Sam was sitting next to the hospital bed in which Kirby lay, currently asleep. The blonde had to go through some extensive surgery post getting shot. Luckily, there were no severe or fatal injuries and Kirby was set to make a full recovery. That eased Sam's concerns a lot, and all that was needed now was simply just time. In the last 28 hours, Abril's men, or at least those who survived, were arrested and charged. Officers from the DEA, FBI and the police force have been running around filing out reports. Several drugs and weapons were seized, Abril's assets were frozen and everything was just pure chaos at this moment.
The one thing that mattered most was the simple fact that she was finally taken down, even if it was by death. Her and La Fiera's empire that the two spent years on was done for good, too. The people of Guatemala were happy, mostly, as they no longer had to be afraid of what would happen to them if they stepped out of line. Even the government was happy about this outcome, which was surprising. None of it was important to Sam at this moment, though. She was glad that Abril was gone and that there would now be peace, but her focus was now primarily on her girlfriend and her sister. She had decided that after what happened, it was needed to stay by their side and help them through the healing process. The amount of torture both went through was too much, and even if they said they were fine, Sam knew they weren't. She also needed them to know she'd never leave their side again.
Kirby moved her head, and for a moment, Sam thought the blonde was waking up, but when the woman went back to the same state she was in prior and her body still lay peacefully on the bed, chest moving up and down slowly, Sam knew she was still asleep. It's been hours since she'd been in the hospital. After Abril was finally defeated, paramedics rushed Tara and Kirby to the hospital to make sure they were still alive. Sam, of course, came with right away, only leaving to go home for a quick shower and a change of clothing. She did stop by the station to fill out her report and submit it, which didn't take too long, but other than that, she's been at the hospital the whole time. Between the two, Tara was doing a lot better, though her injuries weren't as bad. Sam had spoken to her, keeping the conversation short as Tara was too exhausted from all the drugs in her system. Overall, Tara seemed good. Yeah, the torture wasn't fun, but other than that she seemed to be doing fine. Nothing else was said about that, and Sam knew there would be tons of questions from both ends in regards to the situation, which for now needed to be set for later, hopefully when both Kirby and Tara were out of the hospital and at work.
The blonde jolted in her hospital bed, making Sam look at her, waiting to see if she was going to wake up this time or not. A few minutes later, along with some rolling of her head, Kirby opened up her eyes, squinting at first to adjust to the light. She took the time to look around, registering the hospital room she was in, and then looked at Sam, a weak smile painted on her face. The twenty seven year old smiled back, pulling up her chair to sit closer to the blonde. She took her hand in her own, bringing it up to her lips and leaving a soft kiss on her knuckles.
"Hi." Sam said in a soft, gentle tone. "How are you feeling? Are you in any pain?"
"I'm alright. The pain is not too bad, but that's probably because the drugs are strong as fuck." Kirby replied with a smile, sending Sam into a short laugh. "Is Tara okay?"Sam nodded, "She is. Her injuries were surprisingly not as bad this time. She managed to get away with one stab wound on her side that missed every organ, luckily, and some minor cuts and bruises. Wish the same could've been said for you, but I guess you had to get shot twice in the same area."
Kirby chuckled, grimacing as the pain hit her hard. Abril shot her in her right collarbone and shoulder, which meant that Kirby would have to use her left hand if she wanted to write a letter to someone. It was better than a fatal shot, don't get her wrong, it just sucked that she would have to learn how to use her left hand for writing.
"I got lucky." The blonde admitted, knowing that if Abril really wanted to, she would have shot her in the head or chest. "I'm glad that Tara's okay. I was worried she might've, you know."
Kirby was well aware of the fight that ensued after Abril shot her. She was still conscious during the first few minutes of the fight, and was terrified of Tara losing the fight.
