The encounter had left Haeun with rage and dedication surging through her.

It wasn't her first time and it was surely not gonna be her last encounter with him.

Abandoned as a child, she grew up in an orphanage with no word from her parents.

Her only solace came when she began working part-time at an ice rink during her teenage years, where she discovered her love for skating.

It was there that Mr. Yang, her current coach, had noticed her raw talent. He had taken her under his wing, guiding her through the toughest of times. He became the only family that Haeun had left.

Sunghoon and Haeun's first encounter wasn't a good one either. It all started during a routine practice session. Haeun, trying to perfect a particularly difficult jump, collided with Sunghoon mid-performance. Both fell hard and ended with serious injuries due to which Sunghoon wasn't able to participate in the competition.

This was the start of the hatred towards each other. Every time Sunghoon showed off his effortless jumps or landed a complicated spin, Haeun pushed herself harder and tried to outdo him.

After years of fighting for the final spot, Sunghoon transferred to Paris for further training. While Haeun continued her training with Mr. Yang.

Haeun pressed the cool buttons of the elevator, and as she stepped inside, a sigh escaped her lips—one she hadn't realized she was holding.

Her eyes were fixed on the plastic bag in her hand. Despite losing her appetite, she knew not eating would adversely affect her body. A wave of frustration and exhaustion washed over her.

She inserted the key card and then slumped back onto her couch. Anger coursed through her as his words echoed in her mind repeatedly. Frustration overwhelmed her, and she wanted to scream, but she couldn't bring herself to do it. Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes in an attempt to calm herself down.

Before she knew it, sleep overtook her senses, and she fell into a deep slumber.

Haeun woke up with an ear-piercing scream as water splashed onto her. "WHAT THE FU-?" Rubbing her eyes, she saw Ryujin smirking with an empty bucket in her hand.

Haeun looked at the devilish figure with narrow lids. Ryujin shrugged "I've been trying to wake you up for an hour. Your ass just wouldn't budge. So, had to do what I had to do," she said, still smirking.

"I—there were gentler ways to handle this situation," Haeun grumbled, fixing her messy hair and rubbing her groggy eyes. "A little nudge wouldn't have been enough to wake you up from that coma," she added, setting the bucket aside. Haeun looked at her strangely, and then both of them broke into a fit of laughter.

"Now get your ass up and fix the mess you've created!" Haeun grumbled. Ryujin watched her attempt to get up, she stifled her laugh seeing her penguin-like walk "The mess I've created?" crossing her arms over her chest.

"No, miss, I'm the one who decided to create a swimming pool in my lounge,"  Haeun said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. Ryujin glanced at the soaked floor with a sigh. "Alright, alright, I'll clean it up,"  she muttered. "Better get to it then," with a playful smile, Haeun headed off to her room to change.

The warm liquid flowing off her body, seemed to relax her mind. It had been a long time since she'd allowed herself to really ponder about her life apart from the competitions and her constant training to refine her abilities. But now, that she thought about it she realized just how little she had really experienced outside of those routines. Haeun was grateful and all that. However, there still was an emptiness lingering. The absence of parents and parental love...was a void that, despite her successes, was never filled.

She wanted to feel the warmth of parents, that sense of reassurance, of affection, of knowing that, no matter what, there was someone who had her back. The thought tugged her heart. However, she quickly let go of it and finished her routine.

Slipping into a pair of quick shorts and a hoodie, Haeun grabbed her phone to check the internet. As her fingers scrolled through the browser, an article caught her eye: "The Return of the Ice Prince: Park Sunghoon". Without thinking, her hand instinctively tapped on the headline. She found herself silently reading the article.

After scrolling through all the article her eyes fell on a specific comment "I stopped watching competitions after Sunghoon's departure—there were no worthy candidates left. But now that he's back, I'm back into the sport ggs".

Haeun stared at the comment for a second before erupting into laughter "Worthy?"  she scoffed, shaking her head.

"Let's just see how worthy he is"
