the end of dance moms

as the girls stood waiting for their teacher to arrive for pyramid, nerves began to make themselves known.

"where do you think abby is?" mackenzie was the first one to speak up.

"i was just thinking that mackenzie." holly laughed, trying to lighten the mood. almost as if mackenzie jinxed it, they heard abby's shrieking voice coming from the lobby.

"and you idiots can't do anything about it?" she screeched. one of the producers said something, but it was too quiet to hear.

"mom, what's happening?" mackenzie turned towards melissa, who was trying to hide her uneasy face.

"i don't know honey." she smiled weakly at her daughter. holly opened her mouth to say something, but was cut off by abby slamming open the door, loudly and harshly.

she didn't make any notice of the girls or the moms as she stormed over to the pyramid and began ripping it off the wall.

"ab, you're really freaking me out here, what's going on?" melissa skittered over to abby, who waved her off and shushed her. melissa obeyed and went back to her spot, crossing her arms behind her back.

abby threw all the pictures straight into the garbage. she turned towards the girls and sighed aggressively, making a face of pure annoyance.

"well. you can all thank chloe, paige and brooke for this, but we've been cancelled." she shrugged. "dance moms has been cancelled. the producers don't like that our ratings have gone down with them, so we have been cancelled."

melissa's mouth, as well as most of the girls' mouths, were hanging open.

"classes at the abby lee dance company will remain the same for the next three weeks, and then, and you can blame chloe and paige for this too, we will be shutting down." abby turned towards the moms. "we no longer have the money to remain open. the aldc la will remain open, and all of you are welcome to come and train there, but dance moms will be no more. that is all, you are dismissed."

abby didn't wait for anyone, not even melissa before storming out of the room. the girls began to talk amongst themselves, but maddie stood frozen. her heart was beating out of her chest.

"you alright maddie?" holly's sympathetic voice pulled her out of her chest.

"i can't believe it's all over." her eyes watered slightly as her moms arm draped around her shoulder.

"it's sad that it's over." mackenzie said softly.

"i know," melissa squeezed their shoulders lightly, "but you guys will get to go back to high school now! and middle school for you kenz."

melissa and holly kept talking, trying to reassure them it would all be okay as kira and jill stood silently in shock, but maddie couldn't hear them. she knew her life was about to change drastically, and she wasn't sure it was going to be the for the better.

'dance moms has finally come to an end.' the thought left her numb. it wasn't until she was in bed later the evening that she could let herself cry.

and she cried herself to sleep.
