Calix began to look around his room in panic. Was someone in his room while he was gone? How long had the note been there? Had he just now realized it? Who had been in his room? The boy started to spiral into a sea of hopeless doubt..
Were they in here while he was sleeping?
...
The prince existed his corders, running through the long hallway. He had to tell his father immediately. They could still be in the palace. He quickly opened the door to the king's office room.
"Father! Someone has been in my bedroom.. I think they might still be in the palace," the boy exclaimed. The king shifted in his seat, looking up at him.
"I'm sure everything is fine, Calix. Go ask your sister about it. Maybe she was in there."
Why the hell would she be in his room? Calix huffed, leaving the office. His father just wanted to get rid of him, he was busy.. as always. He didn't understand why his father hadn't seemed to care. The boy shook his head but still headed towards Mila's room, knocking on the cold wooded door.
"What?" she said, opening the door. Attitude much?
"Did you come into my room at all today?" She looked at him with disgust plastered all over her face.
"Why would I be in your room? No. I wasn't in your room, Cal. Now leave me alone. Im on call with.. someone." She closed the door on his face, leaving him alone in the dark lit hallway.
Well she's in a mood. The blonde boy turned over his shoulder, walking slowly back to his room to grab the envelope. His father had to do something if he showed him the letter, right? As he turned into his own corders for the note, stepping into the room, the door slammed behind him, causing the boy to jump.
"What the hell...?" The prince grabbed onto the handle. It won't budge. Was it the person who wrote him the letter? Were they in the palace? Were they just messing with him? The handle wouldn't move.
"Is anyone out there?? My door handle is stuck!" Calix gripped the handle again. Nothing. He began to panic, pacing around his room. He hastily grabbed the letter again, rereading it....you will soon see the love I have for thee.
..I will do anything.. anything..
He crumbled up the letter, tears forming in his pale eyes. Was this some cruel joke? It felt all too surreal to him. Calix slumped in the corner of his room, sinking to the ground. The boy pulled his knees up to his chest. He still remembers what happened a month ago.. The unknown man that often lurked in his window. Watching him. Could it be happening again? Why would he only be getting into contact with him now? It was a solid month of radio silence. Nothing. Until now.
A sudden scream from down the hall jerked him out of his trance of thoughts. He quickly got up and ran to the door, the handle easily opening the door. How-...
"CALIX GET IN HERE NOW!" his sister yelled for him. Still confused by the door, Calix began taking off down the hall only to stop when seeing Mila standing in the doorway of their father's office.
"What hap-..." his words cut off. Blood was spattered across the walls of the office. The desk. The door. Everything. His eyes traveled to the source. His eyes widened in shock, unable to speak. On the wall, there his father was strung up and pinned to the wall by knives, blood seeping from each wound, trickling down the lifeless body. The king was dead.
