"so that's all that happened", lara sighs. she is telling about this person she likes but doesn't have the guts to talk to.

"gurl, just talk to them", I groan. I have never understood this about lara. she is literally one of the hottest I know and she knows it. she has this energy about her that just screams "I'm here, bitches!", yet she doesn't seem to use it to her advantage when she likes someone.

it's frustrating.

"it's not that simple. even if I do talk to them, I wouldn't be able to take it further than just being friends", a sad tone plays in her voice. she sinks into her seat.

we're at a restaurant right now and it's in the evening, so there aren't that many people here.

"why?", genuinely wondering.

"the company we're under isn't too fond of the type of relationship that I want with them. they say it'll cause too much controversy and maybe even cause us to lose support from fans and stuff", I could hear the frustration in her voice.

"can't you date them in secret or will the company catch on?", I ask. I'm not too familiar with the entertainment industry, especially the korean entertainment industry, so I'm trying to understand what their problem with these type of situations is.

"they might not catch on so keeping it a secret could work but I don't want to date someone knowing, very well, that I can't give them that full lara raj girlfriend experience", she jokes, trying to lighten up her mood but you can still see the light in her eyes dimming.

I don't like seeing lara like this. she's always the one to make me laugh when I'm sad or going through is, this isn't normal of her. she also isn't the type to get so worked up over not being able to date someone if circumstances don't allow it.

it seems like she really likes this person.

"hey, lara", I place my hand on top of hers, in an attempt to comfort her, "don't worry too much about it. I know the company's a bit touchy about shit like this so I'm not saying do anything that might get you into trouble. rather make the most of the time you have wih this person. even if it means telling them that you can't officially be with them, I want you to be happy"

her lips form a small smile. I can see the light in her eyes start to brighten again.

yes, it worked!

I'm not the best at comforting people so this little smile meant that I did something. a win's a win.

"it's you, kavi. I want you", she says, seriously.

my eyes widen in shock. this can't happen, she's one of my best friends. she can't like me. plus, I don't even see her like that.

"lara, i-", I start, not knowing what say. I don't want to come off as harsh or anything.

"relax, I'm only joking!", she bursts out into laughter. tears roll down her cheek from how hard she's laughing. her hand is clutching her stomach, as she tries to compose herself but to no avail.

"you, bitch. i actually believed you", I just chuckle and roll my eyes.

"girl, I love you but not like that", she calms down, fixing her hair and smoothing down her shirt by running her hands over it.
