The end of the story.

Remember: Time's almost up.

It's May and Home is on fire; the planet Icreruta flew too close to its Sun, and now you are to do the same. The moon is dropping, the stars are blinking slower than usual, it feels like all is in slow motion, and you're in fast forward — in two days you'll be alone, and hurtling towards the unknown, but you can't do anything about it because Time is chasing you.

Junie Carus crash lands on Earth in June: a pile of rubble and smoke coats the skyline of Star City, and civilians are convinced it's Armageddon, but all Junie will remember of this moment is the pain. Glass shards have embedded into her tissue, metal scraps have torn through her body, and she feels like she's on fire (Maybe she, too, has flown too close to the sun?) — blisters kiss her skin, whilst she burns and burns, all too bright, a star becoming supernova.

July: there's stars bursting in the sky that night, but Junie is up, she's safe, and she's where her mother once was. J'onn J'onzz, Martian Manhunter, had heard the comms before the landing and took Junie in, handing her a second life, and her fixed-up Martian Overboots — it was only a matter of time before she had to take up the saviour role her mother had left behind.

And so: Mount Justice becomes Home. Junie takes up ranks with the League, and she can feel her scars healing, as though there's stardust beneath her skin, and that black hole of her heart is closing up — it may not be Icreruta, but Junie's happy, and she's starting from below, hidden from the Sun, lest she fly too close.

Think: You were always the End, but that doesn't mean it has to be the end of you.

✶          hi hi hi !!!! welcome to supersonic aka my contribution to the wally west picnic of girlfriends. this will be beginning in s1 of young justice and will span until... whenever i feel like it 🫰 (at the very least until s3)

✶          obviously i am once again pulling ideas from overwatch, so you can try and pry that game's lore from my cold dead hands but you won't — this one is definitely way less blatant than deadlock is, with the support hero juno being more of a blueprint for junie & her abilities<3

✶          you can also try and pry the myth of icarus from me but i'd like to see you try 👺 it's one of my absolute favourites, and there'll be a lot of allusions towards the myth throughout supersonic 🫵

✶          finally, i would like to give a big shoutout to the watchtower server (namely for actually shouting at me so i would finally write the synopsis), and for them being a constant source of inspiration 🫂
