"I knew your family all way along, Miyano-san!" he finally said it.

"Eh?" Shiho was surprised. No one had talked about her family to her. She thought no one who knew her family was there anymore.

"Yes, I had met them when I was 7 years old. One day I-"

But his story was interrupted by a warm hug from Shiho. He was taken aback.

"Miyano-san?" he softly called her out wondering if it was okay to hug her back. But he could only hear soft sobs. Eventually, his hands moved and wrapped around her waist while her hands were hugging his neck, and her face hidden in his neckline.

"Miyano-san?" he called her again as he caressed her back.

They separated from the hug and he continued telling her how he met her family and how they were kind and sweet to him. He told her how her mother treated his wounds. She could see the love and warmth in his eyes. She could sense how much he thought of her family, almost like his own. Even though his words were just telling her the story, his eyes spoke all the feelings, all the emotions he did not say.

"I am sorry about not being able to save Akemi. I-" he stopped looking at the ground, clearly broken thinking about Akemi's death.

"Furuya-san, thank you!" she took his hand in hers, "I am really grateful to have met you. Thank you for talking about my family, " a few teardrops rolled out on her cheeks, "thank you for remembering them all along. Thank you for trying to find them and thinking about them as your own family." She closed her eyes and her tears fell on their hands.

Something moved inside him. His heart ached seeing her like this. His body moved and hugged her. "Miyano-san, I was not able to save Akemi, your family from the organization, but when I came to know that you were still alive, it became my goal to save you at any cost, even if it costed me my life."

"Please don't say like that, if I knew about you before, I would've never wanted you to put your life on stake for me." She said.

"Anything for you Miyano-san, anyways I had no one so-"

"You had me, didn't you?" she separated from the hug and looked at him.

"Eh?" he was shocked to hear her say this.

"You had me, it was your goal to find me, right? Then, could you still say you had no one?"

"Gomen!" he looked down.

There was a small silence.

"But it's same for you Miyano-san!" he said with a determined smile.

"Huh?"

"Please don't say that Miyano Shiho has no one anymore. Miyano Shiho has Furuya Rei!" he caressed her hair.

Few more teardrops rolled out, "Arigatou!" she smiled a little within the tears.

Furuya move his hands and cupped her face in his palms as his fingers slowly moved and wiped her tears. "You are not alone, not anymore."

Shiho was shocked, surprised, and what not on hearing those words. Her heart was racing but there was assurance in his words. She was calm as well. She felt no need to re-think about those words. Slowly, her cheeks turned red and she bit her lips as she looked down, blushing.

He caught what she was feeling and instantly felt his cheeks turning hot. He removed his hands from her face. "I mean, you also have Akai and Kudo-kun, and of course Hakase." He tried to cover the embarrassment.
