EVERYONE at the table gasped."What? What is she talking about?" Liliana asked
Valentina could feel the weight of everyone's gazes on her, the shock and disbelief palpable in the air. Adriana's smirk widened, clearly enjoying the spectacle she was causing.
"Answer me! What is she talking about?" Valentina looked at her wife, then at Adriana. "One night.." She struggled to get her words out.
Adriana's smirk widened even further as it became clear that she had succeeded in stirring up trouble. She sat back in her chair, watching Valentina struggle to find her words with a smug satisfaction.
"One night I made very horrible decisions."
Azariah felt her heart sink further, her mind racing as she tried to process what she was hearing.
She looked back and forth between Adriana and her mother, struggling to reconcile the woman she thought she knew with the one who was confessing to god-knows-what.
"And it was the night that I didn't come home to." Val said. Liliana broke into tears. "Uh, her father was there..."
Adriana let out a cruel, mocking laugh. She leaned back in her chair, enjoying the chaos she was stirring up. "Go on, don't stop now. You were just getting to the good part."
"I was extremely drunk and pissed off about something I don't even remember and he was there and I took my anger out on him." She said
Valentina's voice trembled as she confessed, each word like a blow to everyone's collective gut. Adriana just sat there, a satisfied smile on her face, as the truth she had forced out began to sink in.
Azariah felt like the world was spinning around her, the revelations too much to bear.
"Don't forget about my mother."
Adriana's smile turned into a sinister grin. "Oh, we can't forget her, now, can we? Go on, tell them what you did to her." She said.
"Come on, stop." Valentina said. Adriana shook her head, crossing her arms over her chest. Valentina sighed. "She tried to stop me but I didn't and I drove away, and she drove after me and when I turned around and I hit her."
Hearing Valentina say that about her parents just pissed her off.
Azariah felt a wave of nausea wash over her at her mother's confession. She could barely bring herself to look at her, the anger and hurt swirling inside her almost overwhelming.
Adriana, meanwhile, seemed to be enjoying every second of the drama, her smirk growing even wider with every painful revelation.
"And then years later I met Scarlett, I knew you already. My family knows you. You ruined my life and I ruined yours." Adriana shrugged.
