Katyana McDonald is standing at her lock in North Dixie High School. Katyanna is a normal teenage girl. She is a senior, she loves to hang out with her friend, and she has a loving boyfriend of two years.
Cayden Durand, Katyana's boyfriend, walks over to her locker. He kisses her cheek, "Hey Babe, how where your morning classes?" He leaned against the locker beside Katyana's.
She turns around and smiles, "They were good but they would have been better if you were in one of them. I missed you. How were yours?" She closed her locker and wrapped her arms around his waist and looks up at him.
He looked down at her, "I missed you, too. The classes were okay but my day is going to get better because I get to be with my beautiful girlfriend for the rest of the day." He smiles, leans down and kisses her. He pulls away, "Do you want lunch? I'm buying."
She lets go of his waist, "Sure, if your buying." She laughs. "I'm just kidding. I would love to eat, but please let me pay."
Cayden grabs her hand and they start walking, "Well, you can start paying the second Monday of next week." He smiles at her.
She stops in front of him, "Why can't I pay?" She let's go of his hand and looks at him.
He looks at her, "It's because I was raised to be a gentleman. I'm the man in the relationship and I will pay for my lady's food." He smiles at her.
Katyana couldn't help but smile back, "Okay, you can pay."
"Thank you." He takes her hand and they walk into the lunch room.
They walk over to the hot line where they are selling hot wings and chicken nuggets. Katyana get her usual which is hot wing and a tea. Cayden just gets fries and a tea. They get to the cashier.
"These please." Katyana pointed to hers and Cayden's food.
"That will be $6.00." The cashier said.
Katyana pulls out her money and pays for lunch. She looks at Cayden and smiles.
They grab their food and walk over to their normal table. Nikki Andrews and Jasper Geddings are sitting at the table. They are friends of Katyana and Cayden.
They sit at the table, "Hey guys." Katyana said. She takes a sip of her tea.
Cayden just sits there and looks at Katyana, "Why did you do that?"
She looks at him still smiling, "I told you I wanted to pay."
"And I said that I was the guy in the relationship and I am suppose to pay." He has a serious look on his face.
She puts down her tea, she looks mad. "Well sorry for trying to be nice. You don't have to pay for everything flipping thing I want." She looks away from him and sighs with anger.
Nikki was sitting there looking at Jasper. They were trying to figure out what Katyana and Cayden were fighting about when Nikki realized what it was. "What's going on? Is it the lunch thing again?"
Cayden and Katyana both shook their heads. "Gah, ya'll fight like an old married couple," Nikki looked at Jasper, who was agreeing with her.
"I know. They are always fighting over who's going to pay for what."
Katyana hated what they were saying about them. She turns back to face Cayden, "I'm so sorr fy, Baby. I shouldn't have payed for lunch. I'm really sorry."
Cayden looks at her, "It's okay. I shouldn't have flipped because you payed. I'm sorry, Love." He kisses her.
Nikki smiling, "That is so much better."
Cayden and Katyana smile at her, "So Nikki who are you going to prom with?"
"I think, I'm going with Jared Winchester. He asked me during 1st Block."
"Are you for real? You have been waiting for him to ask you out forever." Katyana was so happy for Nikki.
"Yes. He is amazing in so many ways."
"Who is amazing in so many ways?" Jared came and sat by Nikki.
Nikki was blushing, "I was talking about you." She smile.
"So, I take that as a yes to going to the prom with me?" He smiled and winked at her.
"Yes, that is a yes."
A teacher was looking around the lunch room for Cayden. When she finds him she walks over to him. "Cayden, can I talk to you real fast?"
Cayden looks up at her, "Sure, Ms. Beck."
They walk to Ms. Beck's room. Ms. Beck takes a deep breath. "I don't know how to tell you this but..." She stops midsentence.
Cayden was starting get really worried. "Aunt Denise, what is going on? What's wrong?"
Tears form in Denise eyes, "You're mom called and she told me your... your dad was killed on his way to work."
