James had never thought much about plushies, at least not until his boyfriend revealed to still have a Teddy Bear he had when he was a baby. It was sweet and all but it didn’t quite capture the "magic" of how his boyfriend made him feel and how Aiden wanted the feeling to be

That changed the night Aiden surprised him with a gift.

It was May 29th, AKA James' birthday, after a long day of partying with his friends and family to celebrate the occasion, The two boyfriends are now in bed after a long day, their favorite movie playing in the background, when Aiden handed him a birthday present. James was curious.

"What’s this baby?" James asked

"It's my birthday present for you, open it!" Aiden replied, his voice a bit more excited than usual

James smiled "Aww you didn't have to Aiden baby"

James carefully lifted the lid, his heart racing with excitement. Inside, hidden in some soft paper, was a plushie that made him lost his breathe. It was a small, plush version of his boyfriend, the same hair, the familiar smile, the same earrings, and the way his favorite clothes looked when he wore it. And for more fun, there was also another plushie version of Aiden, this time with his Piggyback outfit. It was like holding a soft version of his boyfriend, and James couldn’t believe it.

He looked at Aiden, eyes wide "Is this...?"

His boyfriend nodded, a shy smile forming on his face. "Yeah. I wanted you to have something that would remind you of me, even when I’m not around"

James' heart melted. He held the plushie close to his chest, feeling his own heartbeat quicken "This is... perfect" he whispered, his voice completely overwhelmed with emotion.

"And NGL, It was also a good opportunity to show you how much a plushie can bring to someone and to help you feel less lonely when we’re apart" his boyfriend explained. "Now you’ve got me, right here, whenever you need me"

James laughed softly, his fingers were all over the plushie’s little details while also hugging it tightly "It’s like you’re here with me, even when you’re not"

James leaned in and placed a gentle kiss on Aiden’s forehead "Thank you Baby, this is the best gift I've ever had"

For the rest of the evening, James couldn’t stop hugging the plushie. It was silly, but every time he squeezed it, he could almost feel the warmth of his boyfriend in his arms. The plushie was a perfect replica of his adorable boyfriend and it felt like a small promise that they would always be connected, no matter the distance between them.

As the night came to a close, James placed the plushie on his pillow, right next to where he slept in between him and Aiden "You’re going to sleep here with us tonight,” he whispered to the plushie, and then, he whispered to both his boyfriend and his plushie "Goodnight, my baby Aidens"

Aiden smiled softly, his fingers intertwining with James' and both of them cuddling the plushie "Goodnight, babe"

The next day, James basically never let go of the Aiden plushie, he was hugging and cuddling it 24/7. At first, Aiden was happy that James finally felt the "Magic" of a plushie, especially one in his image, but due to his clingy behavior, he can't help but feel a bit jealous that James spends more time with the plushie rather than with him even if that's not the case
When he saw James still hugging the plushie in his room, he wanted to gently tease his boyfriend, he threw the plushie out of his arms and snuggled into James' arms to replace the latter, James was surprised yet grinned when he saw his boyfriend's clingy behavior and wrapped his arms around Aiden immediately
"You're so adorable when you get jealous like that" James said while teasing Aiden
"Hehe, shut up, it's your fault for spending too much time with the plushie and not with your boyfriend" Aiden answered
James loves seeing his boyfriend being jealous like that, but he reassured him "Don't worry Baby, if I had to choose between that plushie and you, you're my number 1 choice and priority, and like I said back then, you are everything I ever wanted"
Aiden smiled "Aww babe, I know you'd choose me over the plushie"

James laughed softly "Trust me, baby, that plushie’s cute, but it’ll never replace you"

Aiden snuggled into James. "It better not, because I’m not planning on giving up my spot next to you"

The plushie was still there, it was a reminder of Aiden's love to James, he then leaned down and kissed Aiden on the lips, to prove to Aiden how much he prefers him over the plushie

After a while, he whispered "I love you, Aiden-baby"

Aiden whispered back "I love you too babe"
