I went down stairs. I smelled my mothers amazing pancakes in the air so I quickly ran to the kitchen.

I don't really eat because I always end up throwing my food up so I don't try anymore but I still love the smell of her pancakes.

My mom turned away from the stove and smiled at me.

I always love her smile, the way her eyes light up and the way her cheeks go up to her eyes when she sees me makes me feel special, so I never tell what happens at school or about my bullies so I won't worry her, knowing she would be heartbroken to find out her only sun was being bullied.

She also has freckles which is where I get them from. My dad left the picture when I was 3 so I don't really have any memory of him but I've coped with not having a father and honestly, I think it was the best for the sake of my mother.

" Heyy lix, good morning!" she squealed happily. " hi mom" I smiled at her. " do you want some pancakes before you head to school? You still have 20 minutes left." I shook my head.

" no I'm okay mom, even though they smell amazing I wanna be there earlier so I can get a better seat for class."

I lied.

I always sit in the back where the windows are but I want to be there earlier so that there will be a better chance of me ＮＯＴ running into my bully.

" okaayyy but! Make sure you eat something there please?" I nodded my head. " yes mom! I promise I will, ok?"

I put out my thumb and pinky knowing it was an empty promise but I did it so she wouldn't worry.

She put out her thumb and pinky and I wrapped my pinky around hers, putting my thumb on hers to "seal" the promise.

(A/N: that's how they do it in Korea or simply the Korean way 😀).
