Sorry for the wait! Life has been busy for me lately, and unfortunately will probably just get even busier ha-ha. Bear with me for now, I'm always super grateful for your patience; most of y'all already know I'll never let this story die, but life just gets in the way sometimes.
This chapter is a little longer to make-up for it. About 20 pages? Usually they're 10-15.
Anyways, I think I really like how this one came out. Enjoy! <3

"That was a good shot!" Luffy cheers, voice bouncing with each hurried step as we trail after Sanji. The raven haired captain is giggling to himself, racing through the winding halls, shedding the stolen marine-disguise with glee as the elastic hair net snaps away from his hat. I claw at his shoulders while he does it, awkwardly trying to maneuver myself around the jostling movement. There was a small group of marines that had chased us around for a short while, though we eventually lost them with our erratically-patterned escape. Still, it was nerve-wracking. We weren't out of the woods yet. This was especially important after having overheard that Usopp was captured as well.
"I really wish we could've saved some of that food, though... It was so good." The remnants of a pout splay over Luffy's face, I can tell just by the tone of his voice... and by the fact that he had said the same thing about five other times beforehand. "We should've just eaten it! I could've beaten that guy just fine!"
"I know, Luffy. M'sorry... I was freaking out, I told you that already." I tried to weakly defend myself, grunting when we swerved around the corner so quickly I thought I might fall from his back. "B-But, I didn't want us to get caught! Zoro's already been captured, and now Usopp too, so if you and Sanji went with him, then that would just make everything worse. And if the commander caught the both of us, then–"
"Stop making your soulmate feel bad about saving your dumbass!" Sanji snarls in the middle of my word-vomit, and I could've sworn his teeth were pointed for a second. Nami had a similar look in the past, when I thought about it... "If she hadn't thrown that dish at him when she had, we'd probably be sitting in the brig with moss-head and Usopp as we speak!"
"Man, I'm hungry again just thinkin' about it..." The boy ignores the chef with a wistful gaze, glued to memories of the catapulted-meal, and Sanji seethes.
"Whatever, idiot." With a deep sigh, the blonde looks at me, and suddenly hearts plume from his eye sockets. "Don't listen to him, my darling angel! Without your saving grace, we surely wouldn't be here right now! You deserve only the best, to be worshipped, to be..."
Sanji's compliments never fail to take me by surprise with how overwhelming they are. With each honeyed praise that seems to endlessly pour from his mouth, I find myself more and more concerned with the fact that he's not looking forward, prancing around in circles. Not to mention he's being incredibly loud, and there's a risk of encountering marines with each turn.
"Um... thanks, Sanji, that's nice of you to say." It's difficult to get a word in. I furrow my brow a tad, nervously watching as he barely veers out of the way of an open door. There had to be a way to get him to chill out. "But, just– hold on a sec! Relax, I didn't even do anything that crazy."
With a gasp, Sanji lurches back with his hands pinned at the center of his chest. Luffy skids to a stop, the two of us watching curiously, the chef crumbling to the ground.
"Uh, you good?" Luffy questions, almost disturbed.
"Not only is she our savior," Sanji breathes, falling to his knees with tears pouring, "but she's also humble to a fault. Our beautiful (Y/n), you truly are an angel!" Then he's back to blubbering about how great I am, hands latched together in prayer.
