3 - Two Sides of the Same Coin

Kyrell tapped his foot rapidly in class. He had never felt this way before—a twisting in his stomach he couldn't help but gag at. The class paid no attention to him, not wanting to even give Kyrell one weird look.

What happened to Charlie the other day—they didn't want anything close to that happening to them.

Kyrell raised his hand. The teacher silenced the student talking to let Kyrell have his word. "T- teacher? Can I... Go to the bathroom?" Kyrell asked, a feeling of sickness erupting in him.

"Yes, yes, of course. You don't even have to ask." The teacher reminded Kyrell.

I don't even want this special treatment... I just want to live a normal life. I guess that's what every other person in this world is for. To make that hard for me. Kyrell thought to himself as he clenched his stomach and ran to the bathroom. I could just send all of them to the Penurious side.

Kyrell couldn't decide sometimes—whether or not he wanted to embrace his father's power. The first time was the other day with Charlie. The first time he threatened somebody, and punched them—if you can believe it. He wasn't just some rich bully, and he didn't want to be. Instead, it was as if it was in his blood to do so. Having the chance to be above everybody—have everybody respect you. Or have friends and live what his father would call a boring life.

Kyrell has been forced into misery, but he's the one that's driving it forward.

Finding himself in the stall of the bathroom, Kyrell had thrown up. He looked away from it in disgust, flushing the toilet and wiping his mouth with tissue paper. He unlocked the stall, seeing another boy enter the bathroom.

"You okay there?" The boy asked Kyrell.

Everybody had been so quiet around Kyrell, he had only heard very few voices. It felt as if he was disconnected from humanity—not hearing a voice so calm and authentic in a long time.

Kyrell stood, frozen. Something wasn't right. Kyrell felt as if they should be exchanging looks. Kyrell should be the one that's intimidated. Though here he was, biting his tongue.

"Y- yeah. I'm okay. Thanks for asking." Kyrell muttered. He felt weird saying that—it made him feel itchy inside. He wanted to take it back, reverse his personality to what it used to be. He felt like he was on strings, being controlled by memories.

"You don't look okay." Kyrell looked up the boy, reading their name tag. Filex. "It must be so hard, having everybody be afraid of you. You won't do anything to me, will you?"

Kyrell stepped back, having to catch himself before he fell over to the ground. Memories from what he did to Charlie rushed into his mind like a tsunami. His heart raced, "Just a question." Kyrell was snapped out of the blank space he trapped himself in.

"No... No, you're a nice guy." Kyrell let out a heavy breath. "I don't want people to see and he began breathing heavily.

I don't want to be like this... Kyrell thought, tears forming in his eyes. So then why am I?

me as that person. Like a monster. I don't want people to be afraid of me. I won't do that to people, not anymore."

"Don't you think your mom would be disappointed? You know how much she hated your dad." Filex crooned.

The world paused in that moment. You could hear a pin drop. Kyrell had a million questions he wanted to ask to Filex, the most important one being how did he know about his family and their problems? But he was fueled by anger, which everyone, including Kyrell himself, knew he couldn't control. That warm, blank expression Kyrell felt from Filex, had now turned into a face he would depise of.
