Chapter 5: Gelatin's Secret

Needle looked around the circle, many other people from STB had switch to TOD, like Pen and Eraser. After a bit of thinking you finally picked someone. Firey and Gelatin weren't paying attention since they weren't picked. After a while of truths, dares, and chickens, it was Blocky's turn to pick someone.

"Hmmm. Gelatin! Truth or Dare." He said. Gelatin's head perked up.

"Uhhh, truth I guess." Gelatin replied, looking a little tired. A sort of evil smile appeared on Blocky's face.

"Do you have a crush on anyone? And if so, are they in this circle right now?" Gelatin looked shocked, his face slightly flushing. Many "oooooooos!" Erupted from the crowd. Gelatin looked around.

"Do I have to answer that..?" He asked.

"Yes. Answer my question." Blocky replied

Gelatin sat there silent for a few moments, the circle fixed onto the collagen's face. He took a breath and said, "..yes on both accounts.." Firey looked a bit surprised. The crowd started looking around, shocked as well.

"Wait, really?!" Firey exclaimed. Gelatin looked at him nervously.

"Who is it?!" Blocky asked.

"That wasn't part of the question. I'm not telling you." Gelatin replied, turning his head away from the circle.

The whole circle sat in silence for a few moments. Firey looked at Gelatin, concerned and still surprised. Not many other people in the circle knew Gelatin that well, just Firey.

"To avoid wallowing in this silence any longer, I'm breaking it by saying, Firey! Truth or dare?" Gelatin became all smiley again as he looked over to Firey.

"Oh, uhhh, truth I guess.." Firey replied.

"Since I don't really wanna think of a different question, I'm gonna ask you the one Blocky asked me. Do you have a crush on anyone? And if so, are they in the circle right now?" Gelatin eagerly awaited an answer. Firey looked down at the floor, then back to Gelatin.

"Uhhh, no." Firey replied. Gelatin's smiled slowly disappeared, but reappeared with a more nervous one.

"Cmon, Fireboy! Don't lie to me." Gelatin playfully nudged Firey's shoulder.

"Haha, I'm not lying. I don't have a crush on anyone." Firey repeated. Gelatin's smile disappeared once again and he turned toward the crowd, looking at the floor.

"Oh..okay then." The rest of the circle looked at Firey, however, Pin, who had joined the game recently, kept her eyes fixated on Gelatin, noticing his sort of disappointed look.

"Hey, can I speak with you for a moment, Firey?" Pin asked, looking over to Firey with a smile. Firey looked back at her.

"Huh? Oh, yeah, sure." He replied, getting up and following Pin over to a separated hallway from the party. "What's this all about? Do you have to be this secretive?"

"Yeah, it's a bit important and pretty private." Pin clarified (SO TO CLARIFY-sorry)

"Okay then, what is it?" Firey nervously looked around.

"That...question you answered..do you think Gelatin's expression changed at all after you said no?" Pin asked, slightly smiling in a bit of a concerned way.

"I didn't realize notice if it did. Why? Did you notice anything?" Firey replied, a bit confused.

"Oh, no, I just wanted to know. Haha! Y'know, he seemed quite excited to hear your answer."

"You think so?"

"I know so, but when you answered the question, his excitement seemed to fade away. Do you think this...says anything?"

"Now that you mention it, it does seem sort of strange. I'll talk to him about it."

"Alright! You can go back now." Pin smiled and led Firey back to the circle. Firey sat back done next to Gelatin.

"Hey, jellyboy." He whispered as the game continued.

"Hm?" Gelatin looked over to Firey.

"Can I...talk to you about something..?" Firey asked, faltering a bit.

"Uhh, sure." Gelatin agreed. Gelatin and Firey walked away from the circle, going to the same hallway Pin had taken Firey. Pin quietly followed them, making sure they didn't notice her appearance behind them. She quickly hid behind the hallway wall, trying not to be seen eavesdropping on their conversation.

"I wanted to talk to you about the uhh...question you asked me." Firey explained.

Gelatin's eyes widened slightly for a few moments before returning to normal, "What about it?"

"Do you like me?" Firey asked, crossing him arms. Gelatin's face flushed slightly.

"Woah! Straight to the point I see." Gelatin nervously smiled, "Hey man, you're cool and all, but nope. You're not the one I was talking about." He explained, "BUTIFYOULIKEMETHATSTOTALLYFINETHOUGHUHHYEAHTHATSCOOLMHM-"

"Gelatin, stop lying."

"I'm not!"

"Yes you are."

"No I'm not!"

They continued to bicker back and forth about Gelatin lying, Gelatin continuing to insist he's telling the truth. Luckily, Firey knew how to get him.

"Gelatin."

"What?"

"Is it gay to kiss your best friend?"

Gelatin stood there in silence for a moment, "Only without socks on."

"Gelatin."

"What?"

"You don't have socks on."

"Neither do you."

Firey's face deadpanned emotionlessly, staring off into space for a few moments before slightly biting his bottom lip and saying, "Touche."

They stood there awkwardly for a few moments before Gelatin began scooting away slowly.

"I'm sorry-uh-I'm just gonna-umm." He quickly tried to make a run for it, but Firey grabbed his wrist. (Istg if someone reads this as waist I'm gonna scream)

"Wait!" Gelatin stopped, turning towards Firey, "Umm. I don't take back my answer to the question." Gelatin tried to pull his hand away, resulting in Firey tugging on it harder.

"Hey! Too tight! That hurts!" Gelatin complained. Firey loosened his grip on Gelatin's wrist. Gelatin looked up at him.

"However, I will say that whoever your "secret crush' is, I'm sure they don't deserve your love. You're a great guy, Gelatin, really. I hope you can find someone one day that makes YOU happy." Firey smiled. Gelatin, however, just pulled his wrist away from Firey, Firey letting go of it soon after feeling a slight jolt of motion. He rubbed his right arm and looked at the ground.

"Yeah. Me too."
