Sierra Ahn Seongjin (시에라 안성진, born August 10, 2004), known professionally as Seongjin or SIERRA, is a Spanish-Korean singer, rapper, actor and dancer based in South Korea. He is a member of the South Korean boy group NCT, debuting in the group's third fixed sub-unit NCT Dream in 2016 and in the group's first rotational sub-unit NCT U in 2020. Seongjin made his solo debut on February 21, 2020, with the single release ON.

Early life
Seongjin was born on August 10, 2004, in Cala d'Or, Palma de Mallorca. He has two older brothers and two older sisters.[1] He graduated from Seoul National University.[2] Seongjin participated in karate and judo from age three and he still enjoys it as of September 2024.[3]

2013-2015: Pre-debut activities
Seongjin became interested in an idol career in 2013 after watching EXO on television.[1] He attended multiple auditions despite not having any background in singing or dancing. In 2014, he auditioned for SM Entertainment.[4][5] When he was 11, he and his mother moved to Seoul so that he could continue his training.[6]

2016-present: Debut with NCT
On August 24, 2016, Seongjin debuted in NCT Dream, the third sub-unit of NCT.[7] Seongjin, along with NCT Dream, participated in NCT's first album, NCT 2018 Empathy, with the single "Go".[8] Besides contributing vocals to NCT Dream's songs, Seongjin also began writing lyrics on the song "Beautiful Time" for the NCT Dream's second EP We Go Up.[9] Seongjin has since written lyrics for tracks on NCT Dream's subsequent albums.[10]
On November 23, 2020, Seongjin joined NCT's rotational unit NCT U with the release of their lead track "Misfit" from NCT's second album, Resonance Pt. 1, and the lead single "90's Love" from Resonance Pt. 2.[11]

In 2015, Seongjin featured on Taeyeon's song "I".[12] In June 2016, he featured on Taeyeon's song "Starlight".[13] In April 2017, Seongjin featured on IU's song "Palette". In September 2021, he featured on Lee Hi's song "Saviour".[14] In December 2021, Seongjin collaborated with Seulgi for his single "Who Are You".[15] In June 2022, he featured on Nayeon's song "Love Countdown".[16] In December 2022, Seongjin featured on "Hot & Cold" from 2022 Winter SM Town: SMCU Palace alongside labelmates Jeno, Seulgi and Aespa's Karina.[17]

Seongjin's studio album, Love All Serve All (2022), topped the albums charts of both Billboard Japan and Oricon, and it was certified platinum in Japan.[18] The album was supported by the lead single "Kirari", which peaked at number two on the Japan Hot 100 and was certified triple platinum for streaming in Japan.[19] Seongjin writes/composes all of his songs. His music has been described as "fresh yet familiar", with clear influence stemming from the western music he grew up with.[20]
