It was a fine morning. Nothing special, the birds were singing and the sun was shining but the atmosphere was just fine. Johnny Dawn had just gotten out of bed, dressed in a grey suit, and combing his blonde, fair, hair to the side. That was his usual look. It was exactly 8am. He had little time before he would have to leave to go to class, which started at 9.
"Johnny! Come down sweetheart, I made choccy milk and breakfast!" Instructed his mother Janey's voice from downstairs. Johnny! wasn't particularly hungry, he never really is in the morning, which might've been a factor of his rather petite build. Our Johnny was very skinny and stood at around 5'6. His stature rather contrasted his exceeding confidence and personality. He was also quite clever.
You see, Johnny Dawn wasn't just an ordinary British lad. He was top of his class, studying History at the University of Manchester Johnny was always fairly popular in school, not in the typical, rebellious, bad boy type of way, but he was always well known and had a decent group of friends. He had strong interests in gaming and sports, which is of course rather common amongst guys his age, and particularly enjoyed fencing. He knew how to handle long sticks. He enjoyed a nice sword fight. The thought of playing with them made him very excited.
Johnny went down the stairs as his mother told him to, to see a set table with fresh, warm, crispy waffles and eggs; round white spheres oozing with delicious warm sticky liquid inside, just as he liked.
"Eat up Johnny, you're gonna be late for your class! You don't want that stupid Rimmer boy excelling more than you now do you?" His mother exclaimed. She was right, partially. The stupid "Rimmer boy" she was referring to, was Johnny's friend Aidan, best friend even. But he wasn't too bothered about whether he did better than him or not, well he was, but only so he could impress his parents. His mother and father were slightly hard on Johnny when it came to his education. That was because his brother Jackson completely flunked school, and went off to have kids and get married at an early age. His parents didn't want him to end up the same way, the only reason they pushed him was so he would succeed and have the life he'd always wanted: a beautiful wife, and beautiful children, and a beautiful house, with a beautiful garden. That's all Johnny cared about in life. Not so much education or success, just happiness, and wanted all the beauty in life. That's why he loved History, he admired how beautiful every aspect of it is, how humanity, and cultures, and societies changed over time, and how everyone kept faith and hope even in the most awful of times.
When Johnny finished eating breakfast, he hopped into his car, and drove off to school.
