It's barely lunchtime, and you already feel like you've run a marathon. Between dodging Li'l Ultimates and navigating classroom chaos, you're ready to collapse. Yet, here you are, leading a small parade to the cafeteria with Shuichi and Kyoko flanking you as if they're personal guards.

Kazuki, the self-proclaimed leader of your elementary entourage, skips ahead, his eyes sparkling as he holds up a rock he found. "Look, Y/n! It's got this weird line in the middle! Maybe it's magic!"

"Magic, hm?" you say, stifling a yawn. "Well, it could be... or it's just a rock, Kaz."

Beside you, Shuichi adjusts his hat, glancing at the rock with mild interest. "Actually, that's probably quartz inside. It's common in igneous rocks."

Kazuki gasps as if Shuichi just revealed the secrets of the universe. "Whoa! Do you know a lot about rocks, Shuichi?"

Shuichi shrugs. "Um... n-no, not really... Just a bit of trivia I picked up."

Kazuki looks at him in awe, and you shake your head with a smirk. Shuichi always manages to make the mundane sound impressive, even when stuttering.

Your group finally reaches the cafeteria, which is packed with students from all years. Some first-year students give you a wide berth*, glancing at your little posse with raised eyebrows. Apparently, the sight of you leading a gaggle of children has become enough of a staple that nobody dares question it. You grab a tray, pile it with whatever food looks least offensive, and sit down at an empty table, relieved to finally have a moment's peace.

Maki sits across from you, poking at her food with mild disgust. "This is supposed to be spaghetti?"

"Nah genug*," you mutter, digging in despite the questionable quality.

Kazuki hops onto the seat next to you, and immediately starts peppering you with questions. "Y/n, if you could have any Ultimate talent, what would it be? And what's your favorite thing about Germany? Also, do you think—"

"Kaz," you interrupt, giving him a pointed look. "Eating first. Questions later." You stab your fork in the spaghetti for emphasis. "Bitte*."

Kazuki pouts but obediently takes a bite. Shuichi sits down beside him, taking the opportunity to talk about one of his latest cases as the Ultimate Detective. Kazuki listens, wide-eyed, as Shuichi describes his sleuthing methods, completely enraptured.

Just as you're getting comfortable, Aoi Asahina bounces over with her usual energy, carrying a tray stacked with donuts.

"Hey, Y/n!" she chirps, grinning. "Found you sitting with the kiddos again, huh?"

"Just part of my job as the resident brat whisperer," you reply with a chuckle, earning a snicker from Maki and an eye-roll from Kyoko.

"Hey, Aoi!" Kazuki says, eyes wide. "Did you bring enough donuts to share?"

She ruffles his hair with a laugh. "Maybe next time, kiddo." Then, she glances at you, her face serious. "Y/n, did you hear? There's a rumor going around that Monokuma might be making a surprise visit to the school later today."

You groan inwardly. Monokuma, the notorious bear mascot of Hope's Peak, has a habit of dropping in with "special announcements" that are anything but comforting. "Great. Just what I needed."

"Apparently, it's some new school policy announcement or something. I just hope it doesn't involve more... tests." Aoi makes a face.

Kazuki looks up, clearly intrigued. "Monokuma's visiting? Is he nice?"

You let out a huff, raising an eyebrow at him. "Let's just say he's... interesting. Not exactly the teddy bear you want to cuddle with."

Kazuki seems to think this over, as if trying to imagine a bear more interesting than cuddly. You bite back a smile, noticing Kyoko's faint amusement as she watches you interact with the kids. There's something soft in her expression, a rare moment of openness that catches you off-guard.

Before you can say anything, Kotoko Utsugi prances up to your table, hands on her hips, with Jataro and Masaru trailing behind. "Y/n! Are you going to protect us from Monokuma?"

You sigh dramatically, crossing your arms. "What, you don't think you can handle him yourself, Kotoko?"

She snorts, rolling her eyes in exaggerated disdain. "Please, I'm a Li'l Ultimate Drama, not a fighter."

Jataro tugs at your sleeve, his shy voice barely audible. "Um... Y/n, do you think... Monokuma's gonna do something scary?"

You lean down, giving him a reassuring smile. "Nah, he just likes to talk big. I'll be right there if anything happens, okay?"

Jataro nods, looking relieved. Masaru flexes his arms, attempting to look intimidating. "Well, if he does anything, I'll just punch him!"

"Right," you say with a snicker, giving him a thumbs-up. "You'll scare him right off, Masaru."

Just as you settle back into your meal, the loudspeakers crackle to life, and a familiar high-pitched voice echoes through the cafeteria. "Hellllooooo, students of Hope's Peak Academy!"

A wave of groans and eye-rolls sweeps across the cafeteria. You share a glance with Shuichi, who just shakes his head. Kyoko sits up straighter, her gaze sharpening.

"This is your one and only headmaster, Monokuma, here to make an extra special announcement!" His voice pauses for dramatic effect. "A new school-wide talent show will be held next week! All students, including our dear Li'l Ultimates, are invited to show off their talents!!"

You raise an eyebrow, intrigued. Kazuki gasps, looking up at you with shining eyes. "A talent show? Y/n, can I sign up? I bet I can do something cool with... rocks!"

You chuckle, ruffling his hair. "If you think you've got what it takes, go for it."

Monokuma's voice crackles again. "And there will be a grand prize for the winner—details to come! So, get ready to show off those ultimate skills, kiddos!"

The loudspeaker clicks off, and the cafeteria fills with chatter. Aoi is already discussing potential acts with some friends, while Kazuki's practically vibrating with excitement beside you. Even Kotoko and Masaru seem intrigued.

Kyoko leans in, her voice low. "Are you considering entering?"

You raise an eyebrow. "Me? I'd sooner let Masaru do my act for me."

Shuichi chuckles, nudging you. "Come on, Y/n, even you must have something you could show off."

You let out a dramatic sigh. "Well, if I can wrangle these little ones into an act, maybe I'll consider it."

Kazuki cheers, pumping his fists. "Yes! Let's do something cool, Y/n!"

Maki just smirks, crossing her arms. "This ought to be good."

As you sit back, surrounded by an enthusiastic little group, you can't help but smile. It's shaping up to be an interesting week at Hope's Peak, and you're already bracing yourself for whatever the Li'l Ultimates—and Monokuma—have in store for you.
