Lady Fate cooed softly at the small children in their bassinets. One blonde with cold grey eyes, the other with happy green eyes and pitch-black hair. She frowned as the blonde's parents argued nearby his bassinet and he started fussing. She closed her eyes and found herself beside the blonde child when she opened them. She made herself visible only to him and she stroked his head gently.

"Hush now, sweet dragon, for you may suffer now but your future holds great prosperity and happiness." She whispered to the baby. He stopped fussing and nuzzled his tiny head into her hand, falling asleep shortly after. She placed a small, green heart on the blonde's left hand.

She next paid a visit to the green-eyed baby, smiling at his loving family. She watched as his mother and father doted on their child while the baby's godfathers watched on happily. She reached out to him and placed a tiny mark on the child's right hand, a mark that matched the blonde babe's, and grinned at the shock on the boy's parent's faces when they saw it appear.

"Your child is destined for greatness, though you are not destined to see it..." She said, a sad smile crossing her face. She then kissed the green-eyed boy's mother's cheek. "You will protect your child with my power; though you cannot hear my orders, it will be done."

With that, she went back to her realm to continue on with her duty of decided others' fates. She was always focused on her duty, though she never forgot the two boys she bestowed the marks to.

Harry's POV

I happily got onto the Hogwarts train, excited to get away from my abusive family for an entire school year. I found an empty compartment and sat inside it, not quite knowing what to do next. The red-headed boy I had met, Ronald Weasley, soon joined me in my compartment. We laughed and joked as the train started moving until a bushy haired girl joined us and magically fixed my cracked glasses. They marveled at the lightening bolt scar on the my forehead and the girl, Hermione, questioned the mark on my right hand.

"Oh that? Thats always been there." I said nonchalantly, as though every wizard and witch had a strange green heart on the back of their hand.

"Harry, you're the first person I've seen with a birthmark like that!" Hermione remarked.

I looked at my hand closer and shrugged. "Apparently I'm already pretty special, what's new about this?"

Draco's POV

I sat alone in my compartment, my 'friends' having left me to sit elsewhere. I could hear the people across the hall from me chatting loudly. A red-headed boy, a wild-haired girl, and another boy with the most striking green eyes I've ever seen. I was trying not to sulk in my compartment, my parents had chosen not to come to see me off to Hogwarts. They just dropped me off at Platform 9 3/4 before flooing back home, leaving me to figure everything out myself. My father and mother had another argument the night before, so when my father was still pretty upset this morning, so I suppose it meant it was a good thing they chose not to stick around.

I pulled out one of the books I had been reading lately. I had grown obsessed with the strange birthmark on my hand, seeing as no other magical being possessed one like it. I held a thick, old book in my lap as I read on and on about Lady Fate and how her magic worked. There had only been one case of wizards getting marks, and that was because they were fated to be together. The two wizards in question were Godric Gryffindor and Salazar Slytherin. Gryffindor had disappeared when Slytherin went mad, and the rivalry between houses has been going strong ever since. There was a prophecy that, far into the future, two wizards from those houses would be fated and restore the bond between the houses.
