If I'm going to tell this story I'll tell it right. It all started in fourth grade and just a little too weird.~4th Grade~
I'm sitting in the tube slide on the playground reading. You can clearly see me at the top of the slide so I'd thought I was fine and nobody would slide down on me. And right after I'd thought that here comes this guy from my class landing on me. He was sliding so fast he threw us out of the slide so that we landed in the mulch.I was pissed off to say the least
My book that'll cost my parents a fee from my school's library lays open in the mulch, a few pages blowing out of it in the wind. I look over at the kid who hit me and it's none other than Grant Rowen, the future athletics star in high school and my future best friend. I punched him in the face. I went home early that day.
~5th Grade~
We didn't talk in 5th Grade. At all.~6th Grade~
He tried to talk to me, I'll give him that. We had almost all of our classes together and got paired up a LOT. Being a good student and outgoing, and him being a bad student yet equally outgoing, he was crushed that he couldn't try out for the football team. All his grades were so low I got paired up with him almost every class.Lucky me.
So we talked and hung out a lot in 6th Grade and became best friends really fast.
~7th Grade~
We only had drama together this year. And oh how that suited his inner drama queen. We were preparing to perform Romeo and Juliet and somehow we both played the leads. Oh the irony. This would be the first time we kissed on this emotional rollercoaster that is love. I almost got sick the first night of the play, almost. He and I both got a superlative for cutest stage couple. That almost made me vomit too.~8th Grade~
This is the grade I loathe for so many reasons. The top reason being this was the year I realized I'd fallen in love, a hole I can't seem to get out of. That year I'd tried out for cheerleading and made it. How, I don't know myself. Grant was the quarterback for the football team. We went on away games on the same old activity bus #8189. Grant and I would always sit alone in the very back of the bus when all the kids sat in the middle. We'd just be back there taking about our lives and what's going on. One day he put his hand on top of mine and left it there. I didn't think too much about it at the time, but my heart did. Oh how it felt like I wasn't at all breathing.Thank you, Grant Rowen for killing me oh so slowly.
~9th Grade~
He kissed me again, but on the cheek as a goodbye one day. I mean he was trying to be friendly and all but still. I'm not trying to think too much of little things but still. Anyway so we were doing this paper for a teacher we both hated oh so dearly, and we both got it done and we packed up his kissed my cheek and left. No big deal, right?~10th Grade~
It all started on the first day of this year... All was well when we got all the same classes...All of them.
