The teen leaned gently against the car window while quietly tapping to the beat of the random music playing on the car radio. This would be house number 31 and to say the teen felt annoyed was an understatement. You see Wilbur was getting pretty tired of going house to house, it was all the same anyways. It made him feel like he was going insane which wouldn't be as far off as some may think considering that the definition of insanity is repeating the same thing constantly and expecting a different outcome. Although with that in mind Wilbur would argue (if he ever spoke) that his social worker, Maddie, is the insane one, she keeps expecting to get him a good home while he has long given up on hoping something would be different. Maddie looked at him through the review mirror before speaking in a gentle tone, the small hint of concern flowing through her voice evident by the small accent of her's coming out. "Hun I know in the past I said that houses would be different but I promise it really will be this time. I know Philza personally, and I let him know about well y'know.." Wilbur simply gave a gentle nod and a silent scoff, he knew better than to ever get his hopes up about any house, anything, or anyone.
Wilbur didn't known when he had fallen asleep but he was awoken by Maddie's gentle touch and soft voice telling him that they were there. Wilbur internally sighed before reluctantly grabbing his satchel and getting out of the car to follow Maddie to the front door. Wilbur barely bothered to look at the house itself only doing so briefly in case he was in a situation where walking to this house was a necessity. Maddie softly knocked on the door and within moments a short man with blonde hair, blue eyes, and a bucket hat opened the door and spoke. "Hello! Why don't the two of you come in,it's quite cold out tonight." The man, who Wilbur assumed was Philza, said while giving a soft smile. As they walked inside they were lead to the kitchen where Philza offered them both drinks with Wilbur denying the offer and Maddie just taking a water. "So I know it's really late so I'll do my best to get through his file quickly, as we've discussed-" Wilbur tuned out the conversation Maddie was having with Philza, he's heard it enough times that he's sure he's got her exact words memorized. After about 10 minutes Maddie pulled him to the side and spoke in a very gentle and quiet tone. "Now Wilbur while I doubt anything will happen here you have my number in case something does and this time I want you to call me immediately rather than waiting okay?" Wilbur just gave a nod knowing he wouldn't do that. "Alright kid, I love you, remember to give them a chance" Maddie said while pulling him into a hug. Wilbur liked her hugs, they were gentle, soft, and her arms barely touched him.
After Maddie left Philza looked at Wilbur. "Let's go upstairs mate and I'll show you your room. Because of how late it is I'll show you around properly in the morning alright?" Wilbur nodded and followed Philza upstairs to what Phil claimed to be his room. Once Philza left assumingly going to his own room, Wilbur set his satchel down and looked around. The room itself was plain but spacious. Wilbur was relieved that he got this much space without having to share with another kid, even if this is only temporary.
