Workshop: n // a period of discussion and practical work on a particular subject, when people share their knowledge and experience.Welcome to the EC Writing Workshop - Edition 01. This event is aimed to instill inspiration and propel emerging writers to craft that draft with confidence! During these two months, writers will mingle with fellow storytellers and hone their skills using workshop materials, lessons, and guidance, closely followed up by writing activities, mentorship, and critiques.
The event has been organised in order to celebrate the 4th anniversary of Esthetíque Community. Esthetíque is celebrating its fourth year of establishment, and as we keep growing and blooming, through this project we are extending our support and motivation to the talented community of storytellers. We are a passionate bunch of dreamers who aim to guide as many emerging authors as we can through numerous events, challenges, and projects. Come join us and celebrate this remarkable milestone.
Scheduled to be run for a duration of two months, the writers will get to learn varities of the intricacies of writing journey, and the shortcomings in between. Are you ready to dive into a unique storytelling experience with EC workshop?
Workshop Objectives:
By the end of the workshop, participants will have:
1. A fully outlined, well-developed story.
2. Edited and polished writing.
3. Necessary visuals (formatting, cover, banner, or character designs).
4. A complete and ready-to-publish story on Wattpad, or a solid draft that they can continue to work on.[*The progress of each writer may differ from each other, and the final draft is subjected to depend upon the enthusiasm and commitment of the writers.]
Overall Workshop Structure:Duration: Nov 15 – Jan 15 (Two months)
Daily Work + Weekly Themes: Writers will continue to work on their stories every day while focusing on one key aspect of writing each week (plotting, character development, graphics, editing, etc.). Each week will have a lesson, followed by writing exercises, mentor feedback, and peer reviews.>> Mentorship: Writers will be grouped by genre (e.g., romance, fantasy, mystery, etc.) and will have dedicated category mentors who can give targeted advice and guidance specific to their genre.
>> Mentor Interaction (Once a week):
- Once a week, mentors will check in with their group of writers to provide genre-specific feedback on their current work. This could include a discussion in the chapter's comment section or a written review on the stories.
- Writers are encouraged to publish specific scenes or excerpts (around 500-1000 words) to get feedback from their mentors on areas like plot pacing, character arcs, dialogue, etc.>> Peer Reviews (Once a week):
- Writers will also review each other’s work in a designated “peer review” round. <<[Password 1: Topaz (required during sign-up form filling)]>> This can be focused on the area they’re learning about (e.g., if the week’s theme is dialogue, they can critique each other’s dialogues.)
Participating guidelines:- Writers are encouraged to join the workshop and avail benefits of the learning process with versed mentors.
- All one needs to bring in includes commitment and active participation.
- Writers can opt to publish a new story on Wattpad, continue to work on an existing book, or work on the draft in offline mode during the entire workshop.
- Be kind to own self. Take the writing process easy and enjoy the journey.
- Interested writers are required to fill a sign-up form which will be made available in the following chapter, alongside the detailed schedule of the workshop.
