sydney's pov
today is monday 1st may. I am truly manifesting a good month, especially after april when the only friend i had in liverpool moved to spain with her parents. it was arguably the worst month of my life. i had exams pretty much every other week and my mental and physical wellness was definitely not where it should be. A fresh start is exactly what i need to get through this school year.I walk to the coffee shop a few streets over from my apartment. i love this place, its so cozy and not too overcrowded so im always here finishing up uni work and revising. I enter the building but it is surprisingly busier than usual. perhaps because im never here this early, im normally cuddled up in bed being lazy. i order my coffee and sit down at what seems to be the only available table. i pull my laptop out of my bag and log in. I'm looking through my planner, seeing if i've got any assignments hand in next week. since we have this week off, it will be the perfect time to get everything done and have a reset before the new term begins.
suddenly i hear a voice coming from in front of me so i look up.
"hey would you mind if i sit here? all the other tables are full" a dark haired girl says to me.
"no of course take a seat" i smile back at her as she sits down.
"thank you so much! i promise i won't distract you if you're working." she says
"no honestly its okay i've not got anything to" i laugh as i shut my laptop. "what's your name?"
"im saffie, what about you?"
"im sydney, its lovely to meet you!"
"you too! are you a local?" she asks.
" well i've been living here for a couple years for uni but i originally come from nottingham, how about you?"
"uhh not really, i recently moved in with my boyfriend who's lives around here." saffie states.
"awh that's so cute!" i say in return.
"what about you, do you have anyone special in your life?" she questions.
"god i wish, i haven't had a boyfriend since about year 10 and it lasted like 3 months." i laughed.
"whatttt! i dont believe you, you are absolutely gorgeous." she says, shocked.
"haha thank you girl.""do you want to go on a walk for a bit?" saffie asks as we both finish our drinks.
"yeah sure why not" i replywe then continue to walk around the docks and get to know each other.
"so what do you study in university then?" saffie asks, wanting to get to know me.
"well im training to be a physiotherapist." i answer as i smile at her 100th question of the morning.
"omg really, that's so cool! so like treating injuries and stuff?"
"yeah im mostly focusing on sport injuries, so like football and that." i say
"so is the dream to work at liverpool fc then?"
"100 percent! best team in the world. but i doubt id ever get a job there. my uni is telling us that we have to get apprenticeships but like where am i gonna find one of them! " i tell her.
"well it will be hard but im sure your dreams will come true if you put your mind to it" she says supportively.its eventually time for us to get on with the rest of our days but we exchanged numbers so we can arrange a dinner sometime soon to carry on talking.
i think i've just made a friend.
