"This is the house where the gruesome murder of the young teenagers Casey Becker and Steve Orth took place last night. They supposedly have been killed by a masked killer who has not been caught yet." The words of the news reporter brought chills down my spine. A masked killer in our town?
"Some people are really sick." I said to Randy Meeks who was my roommate and was watching the news with me. He swallows his final bite of dinner which consisted of instant ramen.
"I wish they told me how they got killed." Randy says. My head snaps his way. Randy was obsessed with horror movies, he knew the ins and outs of every horror movie to ever exist. I rolled my eyes at his weird statement, but also slightly laughed.
"Yeah yeah, horror freak." I said jokingly. Now it was his turn to turn his head to face me. His mouth falls slightly open in mock offence, and he slaps me slightly against the shoulder.
"Okay, not true, first of all it's not called a horror freak, it's called a horror geek, and second of all, I'm not!" He said. I raised one finger and mockingly repeated his sentence.
"Actually it's horror geek, not horror freak." I said, trying to sound like a nerd on purpose. I then burst out laughing at my own joke. Randy turns his back to me and crosses his arms. I laughed slightly again, but then focused on the news.
"The killer supposedly calls the victim, and then kills them." The news reporter adds. I shudder again.
"God." I mumble. RING RING. The phone rings, I grab the house phone and accept the call.
"Hello?" I said my voice had a hint of doubt.
"Hello." the caller said, his voice was deep and raspy, and I didn't recognise it. At first I thought it was Randy, but he was sitting on the couch next to me. Then it went silent, not completely, just on the phone.
"Who is this?" the man asks, I shrug but he of course didn't see it.
"Who are you trying to reach?" I asked, I was teasing a bit, but of course not actually, god knows who I was talking to.
"What number is this?" the man asks. I shrug again. I grabbed my bowl where my fair share of dinner was in and went to the kitchen to clean it.
"What number are you trying to reach?" I asked. Randy looked at me weirdly, and mouths the words 'who is it?' I shrug to him.
"I don't know." the man finally replies. I sigh annoyingly at his answer.
"I think you have the wrong number." I reply.
"Do I?" the man asks teasingly. I chuckle.
"It happens, take it easy." I reply and hang up.
"That was weird." I said and plopped down on the couch next to Randy again. Randy just nods his eyes fixated on the tv.
"Randy?" I asked, at him not budging to my statement. Randy then turns his head towards me, a kind of upset look on his face.
"Do you think I have a chance with Sid?" Randy asks me. I sigh at his question. Randy was madly in love with Sidney Prescott, a girl from our friend group. Sidney has a boyfriend, Billy Loomis, my and Stu's best friend. The reason I sighed at his question was because Randy asked me this question a million times.
"Randy, every time you ask me this, it's the same answer. Sid is smitten with Billy, so no, I don't think you have a chance." I said, at the exact second that I finished my sentence the phone rings again. RING RING.
"I'll get it." I said and stood up to get the phone.
"Hello?" I repeated just like last time.
"I'm sorry, I guess I dialed the wrong number." the same raspy voice from before said. I sighed and mouth the words 'same guy' to Randy who was looking at me with full hope.
"So, why did you dial it again?" I ask while rolling my eyes slightly, this guy was getting on my nerves.
"To apologise." he said monotonous.
"You're forgiven, bye now." I said and wanted to put the phone back onto it's keypad. But the guy on the other line was screaming something.
"Hang up." Randy whispered so only I could hear it.
"But, he's saying something." I whispered back covering the transmitter with my hand.
"Hang up." Randy repeated stern. I didn't listen to him. I removed my hand from the transmitter and held the receiver back up to my ear.
"LISTEN, YOU LITTLE BITCH, IF YOU HANG UP ON ME AGAIN I'LL GUT YOU LIKE A FISH." the man said, his voice was loud, but I still wasn't convinced.
"Ooo, shiver me timbers." I said jokingly and hung up.
"Probably a prank call." I told Randy and plopped onto the couch next to him again.
"But what if it wasn't?" Randy asked in a spooky tone.
"What if, ghost face comes up behind me and beheaded me?" Randy said. We both laughed at his crazy ideas. After a few minutes Randy stood up. "I'm going to take a shower." Randy said, I nodded and quickly grabbed the remote from the place he was sitting. I put on a random channel, until I heard a muffled scream. I moved my head towards the place where the sound came from.
"Randy?" I shouted, hoping he was okay. But I didn't get an answer.
"Randy?!" I repeated but this time louder. Still no answer. I stood up and walked towards the bathroom door. I knocked on it softly.
"Randy?" I repeated again, still no answer. I heard the window close, and that was my sign to open the door. And so I did, there he was Randy. I gasped at the sight, he was cut up and hollowed, his organs laying somewhere different than they were supposed to, a blood bath so to be called. When I fully took in the sight infront of me, I screamed. I dropped to my knees beside his lifeless body.
