Welcome to Tommen
Josie
It was January 10, 2005.
A whole new year, and the first day back to school after Christmas break.
And I was nervous - and so was my sister she had thrown up three times this morning with no fever though.
I wasn't nervous for myself; I was nervous for my sister Shannon. She never liked school and was always bullied by the girls.
I looked in the mirror at my uniform.
I hated how I looked.
I was too skinny, very underweight.
I was tall though, not as tall as my twin but taller than my sister.
"You almost done in there?" I hear my twin ask.
"Yeah just a minute," I say and look in the mirror again.
I sighed and finally opened the door to see my twin leaning against the bathroom door.
"I swear if you say anything about it," I say and he chuckles.
"I wasn't you look good," he says and I glare at him.
"Where's Shannon?" I ask
"Downstairs waiting for you," He says
"Okay, bye love you," I say and go downstairs.
"You ready?" I ask Shannon and she nods
"Hey, you're going to be fine," I say and we start making our way to the bus.
Last year Shannon got bullied a lot, well she got bullied her whole life. One day a couple of girls jumped her and I had enough of it, I beat the girls. I'm not a fighter never have but she doesn't deserve it. But I got expelled and my mom finally had enough.
I have 5 brothers Darren the oldest but he ran off, Joey my twin, Tadgh who is eleven, Ollie who is nine, and Sean who is three, but none of us have spoken to him after he ran out five previous years ago, and that's when dad's blow out started. Darren and I used to be close, closer than me and Joey.
Darren was gay and my father couldn't cope with it.
I hated my dad for not accepting Darren he was my best friend.
It was pouring rain when Shannon and got off the bus.
"I'm gonna get going, call me if you need anything," I say to her and she goes with her friends.
My first period was science it when good and I went to the bathroom and looked at myself I splashed water on my face, put my bag back on, and headed out. When I stepped out there was a long hallway unappealing trek back to the main building.
If I cut across the training fields, it would shave several minutes off my walk.
They wouldn't even notice me.
I claimed over the low wooden fence that separated the training grounds from the footpath and power walked toward my destination.
Shit
I walked my way right into huge boys.
I panicked and ignored the shouting and hurried past them the ground was wet and muddy from the rain, and I couldn't move as fast.
When I finally reached the edge of the pitch, I had to quickly catch my breath but it didn't last when something very, very hard smashed into the back of my head, taking the air from my lungs and my feet beneath me.
