As the months passed, Aarav began to notice something that made him uneasy: Amira was talking to other guys. At first, it didn't bother him. But as time went on, he found himself growing jealous, irrationally so. The thought of another guy holding her hand, laughing with her, or sharing private moments gnawed at him.
One evening, when they were studying together in the library, Aarav couldn't help but feel his chest tighten as Amira received a text from one of her new friends. His eyes lingered on the message, and before he could stop himself, he snapped, "Who's that?"
Amira, sensing the sudden change in his demeanor, looked up from her notes. "It's just a friend, Aarav," she said softly, sensing the tension building between them.
"Just a friend, huh?" Aarav repeated, his voice tinged with frustration. He didn't know why, but the thought of Amira getting closer to someone else made his heart ache.
"Why does it matter to you?" Amira asked, her voice shaky. She stood up, the distance between them suddenly feeling like miles. "You have a girlfriend, Aarav. You don't need to be jealous of my friends."
The words stung, more than Aarav was willing to admit. He stood there, speechless, as Amira walked away. It was the first real rift between them, and it left Aarav questioning everything he had felt for her.
