At midnight, a girl was sleeping peacefully and having a beautiful dream.
"Aaru, I love you more than anything," said the girl with a smile on her face.
"I love you more, Akshu," said Aarohi, her face filled with smiles.
The girl was dreaming of beautiful moments with her sister when she remembered something-the day she lost her everything.
"Akshara, I hate you! Because of you, I lost my mother. You are responsible for my mother's death! Akshara, you are responsible!" said a girl sitting beside her dead mother, crying her heart out. The air was heavy, and Akshara's heart pained at seeing her younger sister say so.
"Aaru, I didn't do it! It was an accident! I also loved Mumma more than anything," said Akshara, her voice trembling. She started to panic upon hearing Aarohi's words when Manish Goenka stormed to them.
"Aarohi, you can't speak to Akshara like this! Akshara hasn't done anything. Stop blaming her unnecessarily," said Manish, his voice rude. His words hurt both Akshara and Aarohi deeply.
"But what about my mother? You remember I loved her," said Aarohi, her voice firm as she looked at Manish.
"Aarohi, you are just like that-no manners to speak to others. I wish you would also leave this house," said Manish angrily, while Aarohi looked at him with a fake smile.
"Mr. Goenka, I would have left this house a long time ago, but because of my mother, I am still here. But let me tell you one thing: the house that hasn't valued my mother, I will not live in," said Aarohi, her voice filled with anger and hurt, and she left the house. It was raining heavily outside. Manish had made everyone sleep, but Akshara and Aarohi weren't listening to him.
Akshara saw Aarohi leaving and ran after her, crying. But before she could reach her, Manish pulled her inside the house. Akshara started to have panic attacks and fainted while Manish made her lie down in her room.
A girl woke up panting, remembering all this. Her past made her wake up daily.
"It has been 13 years since I have seen you, Aaru. I miss you each and every day. I wish I could never let you go away from me," said Akshara, looking at her and Aarohi's photo frame and caressing it with love.
Her heart pained as she remembered that day. She used to wake up every day remembering all these incidents.
"It's my mistake only, Aaru. Because of me, this happened. I am not a good sister. I wish I was by your side. I wish you and I were together always," said Akshara, looking at Aarohi's picture as she was talking to it. Then, the door knocked, and Akshara opened the door.
Kairav and Manish Goenka were standing in front.
"Akshu, today is your train to Delhi, and I am really happy," said Kairav, caressing her hair.
"Thank you, Bhaiya," said Akshara, hugging him. Manish, who was standing there, tried to touch Akshara's hair, but she moved back.
"Mr. Goenka, stay away from me," said Akshara, her voice filled with pain, while Manish looked at her.
"Akshu, please don't punish me," said Manish in a painful voice.
"And because of you, I am getting punished every day. Don't you think about it? Because of you, I lost my younger sister," said Akshara, her voice filled with pain and her eyes with tears as she looked towards Kairav Bhaiya. "It's time for my train, and I am leaving," said Akshara, walking away with her bag while Kairav caressed her hair.
"Kairav, do you also think it was my mistake?" asked Manish, looking at Kairav as he walked away without glancing at Manish for a second.
While, on the other hand, a girl was sitting at a dining table and was thinking about something.
"Aaru, what happened? What are you thinking?" asked a person looking at Aarohi.
"It has been 13 years since the wounds are fresh enough. The day I lost my two mothers, I was the younger one, so aks..." She stopped in the middle and looked at the person. "Manoj uncle, let's leave it. It has been years," said Aarohi, her voice filled with pain and desire, but her mind never let it go.
"Aaru, I am also like your mother," said a lady, caressing Aarohi's hair.
"Kanika Aunty, it's alright," said Aarohi, while Kanika's heart pained hearing Aarohi.
"Aaru, today is your first day of college. You shouldn't be late," said Manoj, while Aarohi nodded and left.
Aarohi was moving through the streets when a tear escaped from her eye. "Akshara, if you hadn't done that, how beautiful our family could have been! You, me, Mumma, Papa, and we all would have been together like a perfect family. But because of that day, I lost you, Mumma, and Papa on the same day," said Aarohi, tears escaping from her eyes and pain lingering around her.
While at her house, Kanika said, "It has been 13 years, but Aarohi still doesn't call me Mumma since we adopted her," with pain in her voice.
"In all these years, she hasn't spoken Akshara's name, and you want to hear 'Mumma' from her?" said Manoj, seeing Aarohi's pain.
"It pains a lot. Aarohi never told anything about Akshara or what happened that day; it is all within her," said Manoj, with pain in his voice. While they both were thinking about Aarohi, pain lingered in their eyes, and the environment around them felt heavy as well.
The drift between them could be resolved if the Goenkas had ever tried to, but they made it more complicated. Both sisters miss each other but can never speak to each other. They have only pain buried deep in their hearts; they have only pain in their lives, and the environment was all set to break them even more.
