“You don’t look like the type who enjoys this kind of spectacle.”
Isha’s heart raced, but she kept her composure. " 𝗜 𝗮𝗺 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘄𝗲𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 ," she replied, her voice calm, even though she could feel the pulse of his stare. " Not everyone needs to be swept up in the extravagance"
Vedant raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "You...You are different ."
"I am not here to impress," she said softly, her gaze moving over the crowd, unwilling to make eye contact for too long. "I don't belong in places like these"
"And yet " , he said, stepping closer, " Here you are " He watched her with an intensity that sent a shiver down her spine. “Tell me, what makes you so sure you don’t belong?”
Isha’s breath caught in her throat. She could feel the pull of his presence, the weight of his scrutiny, and for a moment, she wasn’t sure what to say. She had never been someone who felt the need to explain herself to anyone—until now.
“I prefer the quiet,” she said finally, her voice barely above a whisper. “The noise of this world—it’s too much for me.”
Vedant was silent for a moment, as if pondering her words. Then, with a smile that barely reached his eyes, he spoke. “Perhaps the quiet is what I need, too.”
And for the briefest of moments, Isha wondered if she had just stepped into a world she didn’t understand, a world where quiet was something dangerous, and where the man standing before her had secrets that could destroy everything she thought she knew about herself.
But there was something in his eyes—something that suggested he, too, was searching for something more. Something beyond the wealth, the power, the endless noise.
And she wasn’t sure, but for the first time in a long time, she felt a connection to him. Something that pulled her in, despite all the reasons she should walk away.
Before she could stop herself, she whispered, “Then maybe… maybe we’re both in the wrong place.”
Vedant studied her, his gaze darkening as if he’d understood exactly what she meant. And in that moment, amidst the glittering crowd, they both felt the weight of their shared isolation, their loneliness, and the strange possibility of something unexpected.
Something that could change everything.
