"Agastya, wait," I called, my voice breaking from the pain clawing at my heart. How could he do this—to me, to us?
Ignoring the searing ache in my twisted leg, I limped faster toward him.
"Agastya, please!" I cried again, but he only picked up his pace. I quickened my steps, desperate to reach him, but my legs weren't cooperating.
"Won't you listen to me?" I shouted. At last, he stopped, though he kept his back to me.
"You call me 'precious,' but you don't make me feel that way. Am I not worth it to you?" I demanded. I knew I'd struck a nerve I probably shouldn't have, but I didn't care. I could practically feel his jaw clenching, his eyes darkening. Today, the pain in my heart was stronger than any fear.
"Agastya, you always run from your problems instead of facing the consequences. You run away from me because you're afraid to admit the truth—you love me. You know it, even if you're hell-bent on ignoring it!" I yelled, watching as his hands clenched, his muscular frame stiffening before he slowly turned to face me.
I shivered as his darkened gaze locked onto me, every step he took bringing him closer, his careful strides making the space between us feel vast despite our physical closeness. My breath caught, and I felt myself trembling.
"I-I..." I stammered, my words failing as he closed the remaining distance, his hand gripping my nape and pulling me closer. His warm breath brushed over my lips as I clung to his bicep, trying to steady myself, my legs weak beneath me.
"SPEAK, PRECIOUS," he commanded, his voice low and dangerous, sending a jolt through my body.
"You... you run from me," I managed to whisper, barely audible.
He chuckled darkly, the sound sending goosebumps across my skin. I met his gaze, both frightened and drawn to him.
"DOESN'T SEEM LIKE IT, BECAUSE EVEN WHEN I'M NOT WITH YOU, MY HEART IS IN YOUR CAPTIVE," he murmured, his words making my cheeks burn.
"Don't deny that you love me," I urged. But then, his gaze went cold. He released my neck and took a step back—a simple movement that felt like it shattered something inside me.
"Take care of yourself, Elena," he said, and I felt my chest tighten. I understood the meaning behind his words. He was leaving me.
The world started to blur as tears flooded my vision. My hands were sweaty, palms rubbing against my thighs as I tried to hold back the wave of panic and heartbreak crashing over me.
"PRECIOUS!"
