“So Alice today am going to tell you the biggest and the most important and deep truth of your life. (her mother took  a deep sigh and continued) Alice I never used to be what  I am today. My mother used to be a …….a….a fairy!”

There was a deep silence Alice was shocked.

Her mother broke the silence and resumed “According to the laws of nature the daughter of a fairy becomes a fairy”.

“ That means you were also a fairy! But how did you become a human and wait a sec. I never knew anything about your father first tell me about it.”

“My father ah! I was born through a flower. Fairies are not born like humans but whenever during spring the first bud opens up a fairy is born. That is how I was born and you know each fairy plants a lilac flower and when the flower’s bud opens up a fairy gets her daughter.”

“So you were born when your mother’s lilac flower bud opened up .”

“Yes! Now look each fairy is one of its kind. I mean each of us has a special power. For example my mother was a water fairy…water was her element. She could bring destruction or do creation with water and I was a flower fairy..it was my element.”

“Oh! So each fairy uses her element to do magic right?”

“Yes. Now look whenever each fairy is born she lives 17 years of her life like a usual human being but on her 18th birthday she receives her special powers and that’s when she actually becomes a fairy. Though she knows from the beginning about her real identity but those 17 years are there for her to see this real world and experience the grief and struggle of a human being so that she can become a sensible and a kind fairy.”

“ So why didn’t you tell me about my identity. And wait fairies don’t loose their powers so how did you become a human?”

“Fairies don’t marry either. But I did and just to marry your father I gave up all my powers and started living a normal human life. And then you came in my life. I thought that now when am a human and you are born a human you won’t become a fairy. That is the reason I never thought it was important for me to tell you about my past until one day.”

“ Which day ? what happened mom?’’

“ It was the day when your father died in an accident. My all hopes were shattered. I cried every night and a month passed away and life seemed to be normal once again until I got a message from my mother that she wanted to meet me and she asked me not to bring you there with me. So I left you at my friend’s house and I went to meet my mother.”

FLASHBACK

Alice’s mother Mrs. Thompson  ( anne) went to meet her mother. Towards the south.

Mrs. Simpson was glad to see her.

“Anne am so glad to see you after such a long time.”

“ Me too mom. But what is there you wanted to tell me?”

“Anne I don’t if its good or bad but I just had a talk with the fairy of wisdom. I told her about you and Alice. She said that the future of Alice is not decided.”

“what do you mean?”

“I mean that if Alice will have your genes in her she may turn out to be a fairy.’’

PRESENT

“What? Mom that means that….that I am a fairy?”

“Yes.’’

“But what’s wrong in it? Why did you say that I shouldn’t be a fairy….why?’’

Her mom said nothing. Anne stood up and went in her room. Leaving behind Alice and her undefined life.
