Jesus in modern culture

Can You Imagine Jesus Living in Our Days? Probably not, right? This is just an exercise in imagination, to envision what His life might be like in our era.

I could say that Jesus would wear the clothing of our time, and He would likely use social media to spread His main message. His message would still be characterized by repentance, forgiveness of sins, love for others, compassion, and mercy. In other words, His message would remain the same as we read it in the Bible.

He would also be performing miracles and healings, yet He wouldn't turn these into a show as we sometimes see today.

It's likely that the religiosity of some churches wouldn't accept Him for "dressing modern" or perhaps for associating with sinners, just as we've read in Scripture.

What the Bible Says:

"And when the scribes and Pharisees saw Him eating with tax collectors and sinners, they said to His disciples, 'How is it that He eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?' When Jesus heard it, He said to them, 'Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.'" Mark 2:16-17

In the same way, the modern political system would find ways to oppose His message and would try to do the same thing they did with Barabbas.

Another point to consider is that He wouldn't have been a kind of legalist, labeling everything as sin. He would only call sin what doesn't align with His holiness. I think He would sit in a coffee shop, enjoying a cup of coffee, listening to good music, and sharing moments with others.

This doesn't mean that if Jesus were living in our time, He would be some kind of "cool guy" who accepts everything as good just to get along with everyone. I believe He would still stand against injustice and the false doctrines of some churches, as holiness would also be part of His message.

In short, I believe that if Jesus were in our era, we would have a different concept of life, the church, and how to live for him.
