"The folly of the divine is to believe in their own lie of superiority"
I was not expecting this...
Eve allowed herself to drop to a knee all the same, somewhat nonplussed to be back in the realm of the chained god. She had to admit, after encountering the strange entity in what appeared to be a parallel realm, she hadn't expected to cross paths with the God of Death again until she truly had something to show. Quickly, the black lamb went over her progress in her head - she had collected the commandment stone but hadn't yet made it home, she had managed to recruit five new members for his cult (six if she counted Ratau) but the latest hadn't been properly welcomed inside...
"Dutiful and efficient, yes you were the lamb I waited for," the skeletal cat boomed, her ear flicking once in a bit of pain from the sound. "Do not make the mistake of becoming a servant to my followers - their faith is a resource, spend it as freely as you would gold as you can always regain their trust with a well-placed act of kindness."
What? Eve blinked. ...does he mean-
"Let it empower you," the fang-toothed cat said, sharpened smile glinting behind his veil. "Let it give you license to do unspeakable things as you bend them to your will! I will grant to you the ability to read their feeble little minds, you have done very good thus far my vessel and i will continue to watch you closely. Do not disappoint me."
But even as the power flowed into her body, as the rays of light sank deeply into her skull all Eve could do was wonder.
...vessel?
