It's been five months of their marriage and everything is working smoothly.
Jungkook was as gentle as ever, a true gentleman, but as a husband, he surpassed even Jimin's expectations.
Every compliment—whether it was about Jimin's cooking, his work, or simply how he looked—left Jimin blushing, heart fluttering with a small hope that they could one day be more than just friends. But those hopes were always crushed when he’d hear Jungkook cry at night, calling out Sana’s name, his voice heavy with grief. It reminded Jimin that perhaps being loved by Jungkook was not something he could ever have.
Tonight was especially hard; it would’ve been Sana’s birthday. As Jimin walked quietly to their bedroom, he paused at the door, seeing Jungkook sitting there, gazing at a picture of Sana, tears glistening in his eyes. Jimin didn’t want to disturb, so he began to back away, but in his nervousness, the glass of warm milk he’d brought for Jungkook slipped from his hand, shattering against the floor.
Jungkook looked up, startled, his gaze meeting Jimin’s teary, apologetic eyes.
“I-I'm so sorry, I didn’t mean to disturb you. I just... thought you might wa-nt something w-arm to help you slee-p better. I’ll clean it u-p,” Jimin said, his voice small and scared.
Jungkook immediately stepped forward, concern in his eyes. "Hyung, stop—you’ll hurt yourself. Let me clean it up." His voice was soft, filled with worry.
Jimin’s heart clenched at Jungkook’s words. "But this pain is nothing compared to what I feel every day, Jungkook," he thought, swallowing hard. Instead, he gave a faint smile. “It’s okay, Kookie, I’m fine,” he murmured, brushing off his emotions.
Seeing the sadness in Jimin’s eyes, Jungkook gently asked, “You miss her too, don’t you? I know I do.”
Jimin nodded, his voice barely above a whisper. “She was... perfect. Anyone would want her. But she chose you because she loved you more than anything. Sometimes, I wish I could’ve been the one who di—”
“Hyung, please don’t ever say that.” Jungkook’s voice broke, and he held Jimin’s shoulders tightly. “I feel lucky to have you. You’re perfect too, and I’m grateful that you’re here, that you chose to be here with me.”
Before the weight of their words could settle, Jungkook’s expression softened. He pouted, opening his arms wide like a child. “No more sad talks. I need cuddles, hyung.”
Jimin couldn’t help but smile, warmth filling his heart as he wrapped Jungkook in a tight embrace. Jungkook sighed contentedly, melting into Jimin’s hold, while Jimin silently thought, "I’m happy with whatever we have, Kookie. Just being near you, sharing the same air, feeling your heartbeat... it’s all I need to keep going."
