You pull up to the scene, heart heavy as you see the flashing police lights illuminating the area. Carefully, you park your car across the street, noticing the numerous police vehicles gathered outside the home.

As you step out, the distant sounds of Lyle and Erik's cries draw you in, urging you to move quickly.

But just as you approach, a police officer steps in front of you, his expression serious. "Hey, you can't enter—" he says, with an authoritative tone

"This is my best friend's house," you gently plead, trying to look past him. "Please—Lyle and Erik called me," you say, your voice wavering with apprehension. Your brows knit together in worry as you finally catch a glimpse behind him.

"Lyle! No—don't—Erik!" you exclaim, feeling the weight of helplessness as the police officer holds you back

"We didn't do it!" Lyle says as the police pin him to the floor forcefully putting cuffs on him. Erik cries on the floor as they handcuff them both carrying them to the cop car

After the incident, you find yourself standing outside the police station in the cold air, seeking a moment of clarity. Your thoughts are consumed by a pressing question: "Who was it and why?" you say while staring at the same piece of cement for 15 minutes as you try to make sense of the situation

Erik and Lyle step out of the police station, and Erik immediately approaches you, seeking comfort in your embrace. Hugging you "Hey, it's okay," you whisper while he cries finding comfort in your presence. "You both can stay at my house for the night, alright?"

"Okay," Erik replies softly, and you turn your gaze toward Lyle, feeling a deep sense of empathy for the both of them. "I'm sorry for what you both have gone through," you say gently, offering a warm smile. Lyle nods appreciatively, then moves closer to wrap his arms around you and Erik.

A week later.

You walk towards the entrance of Hotel Balair, where Lyle and Erik have requested to stay due to the ongoing investigation at their home. The only sound is the soft echo of your shoes against the pavement and vehicles parking behind you.

"Hello, I'm Y/N L/N. I'm here for room 278," you say to the receptionist.

She glances up from the phone resting against her ear. "Just one moment, honey," she replies kindly, tapping your name into her computer.

You nod and casually look over your shoulder. Your gaze lands on a white woman struggling with a baggage cart piled high with enormous bags. You can't help but chuckle at the absurdity. "What the fuck?" you mutter to yourself, fighting the impulse to ask the receptionist, "Isn't this supposed to be a hotel?" then the receptionist speaks taking you out of your thoughts.

"This is the key left by Lyle Menendez. Have a great stay," the receptionist says, handing over the key.

You furrow your brow. "Stay? I just came to visit," you say, disbelief creeping into your voice as if you were addressing Lyle himself.

"No, ma'am. Mr. Menendez has booked the entire top floor. He left a note in the system," she explains while clicking around on the mouse to show you.

"It's fine," you reply with a smile, "Have a nice day." Taking the key, and head to the elevator and press the button for your floor. What does she mean by "have a great stay"? Lyle wouldn't.

As you step out of the elevator, loud music greets you, and you make your way down the noisy hallway, knocking on the door.

"Turn the music down!" Lyle's muffled voice calls from behind the door, just before he swings it open.

"Y/N!" he exclaims, beaming as he grabs your face and kisses you on the lips. You pull back, feeling a bit confused.

"Are you okay?" you laugh awkwardly

"I'm f#cking great. Thanks for asking!" he grins, releasing you. He sniffles pinching the tip of his nose to remove the white powder. He steps back allowing you inside.

"The lady at the desk said you bought the whole top floor. Is that true?" you grin slightly already knowing the answer.

"Y/n you need to open your eyes. This is 1989! The start of a new era!" he steps back turning up the record player. Sounding crazy.

you smile while walking over to the record player looking over at his Milli Vanilli records.

"Y/n!" Erik says while running to you hugging you, and you hug him back and your gaze goes behind him to Lyle who's snorting a line. "You went shopping, huh?" you say with a grin. "Yeah! I picked up some new stuff, wanna see?" he replies, dashing to his room to grab his bags.

Lyle glances your way from across the room, a playful smile on his face. "Want some?" he asks, casually wiping his nose.

"I'm good. I quit," you reply, your gaze steady as you take in his robe and examine his choice of clothing. "Whats with the no clothes?"

"Im a free man. You should try it," he replies before snorting a other line.

"Take it easy; Jamie definitely won't be happy to hear about that."

"Jamie ended things with him a few days ago," Erik says, setting the clothes down in front of you with a smirk.

"Oh, and we went shopping for you," he adds casually, a hint of mischief in his eyes. You blink in surprise, momentarily speechless as you process his words. "What what?" The unexpected revelation washes over you, accompanied by a sudden surge of guilt and confusion that knots your stomach. "Jamie broke up with you?" you exclaim, your voice rising in disbelief as your jaw drops in shock.

"And you got me clothes?" You glance over at Lyle and Erik, searching their expressions for clarity, still trying to understand the news that just dropped like a bomb.

"Yes, Jamie broke up with me," he confirms with a resigned smile, a flicker of sadness passing through his gaze. "We just weren't right for each other. But that's in the past now, and we thought it would be fun to pick out some new clothes for you. Our new favorite girl!" His smile widens.

You stand there, grappling with the whirlwind of events unfolding around you. The thought of receiving gifts under such unexpected circumstances echoes in your mind, leaving you momentarily speechless. All you can manage to say is a soft, bewildered, "Oh," as you attempt to make sense of it all.

"Thank you" you smile finally.
