Novelninja challenge #16

My day at school was boring, especially since Thurs was teasing me about being a day older than me.

"Well at least my name is longer!" I rebutted.

"Stop fighting!" my younger sister, Mon shouted, "You're bickering like Mum and Dad when they're deciding what day of the weekend to go to the park!"

Oh yeah. I forgot to mention that my brothers and sisters are the days of the week and our parents are the weekends. We have lived for thousands of years since the Aztecs invented us. But we are still children.

Thurs and Frida are older than me but Tues and Mon are younger. I'm Edne and in the middle. My birthday was today, any Wednesday of the week, but I didn't get any presents.

I'm currently second oldest in appearance but smartest. Thurs is oldest and in order Frida, Mon, and Tues.

But enough of that, let's get to the real story.

When all five of us arrived home from school, we slouched on the couch and pulled out our phones.

"But why does Frida get a six when I only get a five!" Thurs complained.

"Because you're technically younger than her," I replied, "Plus tomorrow you'll get a special surprise from me!" whispering the last bit with a hint of sarcasm.

"Hmm," seemingly thinking about it, "Okay!"

The doorbell rang through the house, "I'll get it!" I rushed to the door.

"Hey it's Dad and I'm back from work," Sun said while everyone else were listening for the password, "Let me in Wednesday or I'll kick the door down!"

We all stood up and I whispered urgently, "Run!" Sun's password was wrong and he knew that it was me at the door so we knew it wasn't him, "and I'll hold him off for as long as I can!"

They ran to the basement and I soon followed but not before guarding every entry with a protection runes.

I opened the floor and crawled in to the dark emergency room.

"Mon? Tues? Thurs? Frida? Are you there?" I screamed, just loud enough for them to hear.

"We are here," Frida said whilst turning the lights on, "We've changed to our fittest forms to run if we need to." I changed.

"We'll need to go through The Escape Route to get out because the Cult Of Calendars are coming." I startled them.

"Okay!" Mon squeaked, feeling a bit excited. She pressed her hand against the wall beside the fridge and it slid open revealing a narrow rocky tunnel.

Along the tunnel, which would take us around 20 kilometres away from our house, there were 3 kilometre intervals with bathrooms and kitchens stocked with food and drink.

"Tues? Stop whistling I Don't Like Mondays," I demanded, "It's not nice to your sister!"

"Well, at least Frida's not being narcissistic and singing Friday like she always does!" Tues complained.

"Just stop!" Thurs screamed. We all stopped and continued.

The end of the tunnel was almost in our sights when the lights snapped off.

"Run!" repeating my catch phrase, "We have to get out before they catch us!"

We almost made it but as soon as I Frida went through the opening, I blacked out.
