SEBASTIAN RAEL FAJARDO

"Where are you going?" Tanong ng isang babae, my childhoodbest friend. Her voice held a hint of concern.

"I'm going home to Batanes," I answered.

"What? Why? You haven't finished your work at the company yet. You still have a lot to take care of, right?" Her brow furrowed.

I smiled. "There are other things I need to do that are more important than this," I smiled and shook my head. There was something more important I needed to do.  I'd been in Manila for almost a month, and I couldn't bear the thought of not seeing that girl, the woman I'd met and considered a friend in Batanes.

"But what about..." she started, then stopped, her words trailing off.

"Aiah," I whispered, her name a prayer on my lips. I couldn't bear the thought of not seeing her.

"I need to see her," I smiled, my voice firming with newfound resolve. "I need to go home."

It pains me to see that they don't seem to make Aiah feel like she belongs. In fact, I've noticed it for a long time. I watch them subtly, without them knowing.

Aiah is always getting bullied. She's constantly left out whenever Hannah is with her boyfriend, along with two other guys I don't even know. I can see the hurt in her eyes every time she tries to join them, but they just ignore her or make her feel invisible. It's as if they don't even care about her feelings.

It frustrates me, and I wish I could do something to make her feel included, to let her know that she's important and valued, but all I can do is watch and stay silent.

It feels like a constant reminder of how easily people forget the ones who don't fit in their little circles.

As soon as I arrived at the airport, I quickly boarded the plane. I sat quietly, listening to music with my eyes closed.

After several hours of flying, we landed in Basco, Batanes. I was immediately greeted by our staff. I smiled widely, thinking that I would finally get to see Aiah.

"Good evening, Mr. Fajardo!"

Ackdan knows me very well, or should I say Alackdan Rei Hernaez. Ever since we were kids, the way our parents were rivals in politics, we were just the same as rivals at school.
