Aadhya's POV
I am two steps away from an anxiety attack. Actually, I am standing in front of my college gate but I am feeling anxious to step inside the gate. It's my first day of college.
I feel anxious before meeting new people. I have always been lonely. I have a few friends - not really friends but a few people I know.
They are someone with whom I talk, spend time, even hang out sometimes. They are good, no doubt about it. But they aren't someone I can rely on, trust completely, tell my deepest secrets without any fear.
I came to Pune a week ago. Actually, I am from Uttar Pradesh. But for studies, I had to move to Pune. Leaving my parents behind was really difficult. But for my future, I had to do it.
I got admission in one of the most prestigious university of India - Harmony University. I was glad to get admission in this university, after all, it has always been my dream university. But there was an underlying uneasiness.
Pune is a completely strange city for me. Living here alone, without anyone I know made me a bit anxious. Still, I have been trying to adjust here since last week.
I live in an apartment because, unfortunately, I couldn't get a hostel room. But it's okay. Let's be positive. Everything will be good, at least I can hope.
I fiddled my fingers, gazing anxiously at the college gate. Why am I feeling this much anxious? Calm down!
"What happened? Why are you standing here?" A soft, feminine voice called me from behind. I turned around and found a girl standing there.
"Nothing. I am just anxious for my first day." I replied with an awkward smile.
The girl smiled gently. To be honest, her smile is really sweet. "Don't worry. It's my first day too. Let's go together." The girl said.
"Sure. Thank you." I replied with a smile. Usually, I feel anxious while meeting new people. But this girl is making me feel better.
We started walking together inside the college gate. I was feeling a bit anxious but her presence beside me felt reassuring.
"By the way, I am Dhwani." The girl introduced herself. "You have such a nice name. I am Aadhya." I said.
"Well, I am from Economics Department. What about you?" I asked curiously. "Really? I am also from Economics Department." She said excitedly, almost jumping.
I must say that this girl is a complete sunshine. I don't trust anyone easily but something about her is making me trust her. Maybe, we can be good friends.
We searched for our class while talking and giggling together. Finally, we found the class and entered inside. The class had about hundred students.
I sat with Dhwani in one of the middle row benches. We still had five minutes before our lecture started.
"According to our schedule, this is Macroeconomics lecture, isn't it? Dhwani asked, but before I could respond another voice interrupted.
"Yes. And I have heard that the Macroeconomics professor is really hot." The girl sitting behind us said.
We looked behind at her. "Umm...sorry for interrupting. Actually, i couldn't stop myself." The girl said, smiling awkwardly, making us giggle. "By the way, I am Disha."
"I am Aadhya and she is Dhwani." I said with a smile. "Who is the professor you were talking about?" Dhwani asked curiously.
"His name....ummm...yes, his name was Ekansh Singhania." Disha said. I don't know why but after hearing the name, my heart started beating faster.
