A stereotypical Magic story

Capitolo 5:How time flies

At the meeting with Zulan Black makes an excellent execution of the cloack of shadow spell, unfortunately Zulan has many commitments but gives him a dagger of oxidian, perfect for instilling shadow magic in it, and tells him that if he trains and has great success at the magic academy he will take him as his disciple. The situation between Blad and Black gets worse, the two are starting to ignore each other and neither of them intends to apologize.

"Six years pass like this and our heroes are currently 11 years old enough to..." Luca interrupts Lorenzo again and exclaims: "6 Years!!! 6 Years!!! You're crazy, and in all that time we could be friends again maybe." But Tommaso takes it back: "I don't think so, but it's true that 6 years is a lot. How's my magic going?" Lorenzo shuts him up and continues to narrate.

Blad and Black have just boarded the wagon that will take them to the magic academy of the province nearby, Sunhelm, with them on the carriage there is also Andrea and Kyle. Andrea after 10 minutes of travel breaks the silence saying: "How I would love to go to the academy with you guys. But my teacher says that the one in the province is not for me and he sent me to the capital." Black after noticing that no one answered says: "Well but it's a good thing. Usually only the nobles trained in the best conditions manage to enter that of the capital. This shows how good you are at magic." "I know but I'd rather be with you." "I'd like to go to the academy with you too but I think it won't be possible. I'm not as talented as you are." The journey continues and apart from a few chats between Black and Andrea, the others don't talk. Kyle thinks that Blad is not talking for everything he did to him when they were little and he would like to apologize with all his heart but he can't find the words and so he stay silent. Blad instead is too proud to talk to Black or Andrea. Once they arrive at their destination, Andrea hugs Black and tells him: "I will miss you so much." And she whispers in his ear: "Try to make peace with Blad, okay?" Black replies: "I'll miss you so much too Andrea, you don't know how much." Andrea greets Blad and Black who leave for the academy and gets on the carriage.

The academy is of modest size with particularly well-kept interiors, as soon as they arrive they divide them into various classes to take the theoretical exam. The practical exam, on the other hand, is held by two mentors, one for those with magic and another for those without magic. Those without it were in 3 including Blad and as soon as they arrive the instructor welcomes them and begins to explain: " Recently, thanks to the example of Darstan the strongest fighter in the kingdom we have introduced a practical test especially for people without magic. I am your examiner and if you will also pass, mentor. Tohphil. I, like you, don't have magic either, but my strength far exceeds that of a normal human being. The test will be simple you will have to duel with me and I will evaluate you. I'll call you, first Blad Calhoun."

Black and Kyle are instead brought by another examiner who introduces himself: "Nice to meet you I am Nidasell an A-rank adventurer and I will be your examiner for today. I use the magic of ice and the practical exam method is quite simple. You will have to duel with me and regardless of whether you win or lose I will decide your result. I'll call you in order, you'll take a weapon you want and then we'll duel." Black positioned at the bottom of the list is called last and is extremely nervous since so far no one has managed to beat the examiner even if Kyle came close. As he pulls out the obsidian dagger given to him by Zulan, he hears the instructors and also the students whisper to each other, denigrating him for his shadow magic. Black remembers all the times he was bullied for it and a dark magical energy begins to form around him, a whirlwind of resentment push him to give more and in an instant he disappears.

Blad is doing well, he collects the shots he manages, dodges the heaviest ones and pulls some powerful ones until with a sudden blow he is knocked out by the instructor who with a smile says: "There is still work to be done but surely you are one of the best I have ever seen so far, unless the other participants surprise me even more."

With a single step Black is behind the examiner, his anger is perceived by everyone as a murderous intent and with the obsidian knife to his throat the adventurer is about to give up but the pressure given by the magic and Black's murderous intent paralyze him and shortly after make him faint. Both students and teachers are stunned, it had never happened before. A few days later the boards of those admitted come out and in the theoretical test the first place goes to Blad with Black and Kyle in tow while the practical Black first, second Blad and third Kyle. Blad feels frustrated that he couldn't get over Black and their friendship is moving further and further away from what it once was.
