Zhi Yao retracted her gaze, looking at White Fox sympathetically. Although she was not of the same fox clan, she was still of the same species.

Zhi Yao could tell that this was a real fox cub. She went closer to White Fox and asked, "???" Where is your owner?

White Fox timidly raised her eyes and looked into the distance, but did not see her owner there.

Her owner...abandoned her.

She lowered her head with a whine, her wounds stinging sharply.

Zhi Yao really could not bear to see this. "???" You stay here and wait for me!

She hurriedly went to Pei Ning's side and bit down on Pei Ning's skirt.

After tugging hard several times, Pei Ning finally noticed Zhi Yao. "What's wrong?"

Zhi Yao raised her paw to point at White Fox, "#!@¥#@!"

She cursed and swore at White Fox's owner. Seeing White Fox covered in wounds, Pei Ning was also shocked. "Oh my god, what on earth happened?!"

She hurried over, "She's lost so much blood. Where is her owner?"

Pei Ning's voice quickly attracted the attention of other residents. A young girl spoke up, "I remember this fox. It seems like someone abandoned her! She's been wandering around Jin Palace for a few days, just getting by rummaging through trash cans every day."

No wonder this fox's fur was so dirty all over!

Pei Ning then remembered, that's right! She had seen this fox before too!

"With such heavy injuries, she'll definitely die if not treated."

The people around whispered amongst themselves.

Zhi Yao really could not stand to keep watching. No matter what, this was still one of her kind. She could not just watch as she died.

She anxiously paced around Pei Ning, "???" Save her! Save her!

Pei Ning was also somewhat reluctant to do nothing.

She bent down and picked up White Fox. "Let's go! Home! Call the pet doctor!"

Zhi Yao hurriedly followed behind Pei Ning.

Soon, the pet doctor arrived. He simply bandaged White Fox, "Further checks will need to be done at the hospital. From what I can see so far, this fox has only external injuries. No way to tell yet if there are internal injuries."

Pei Ning nodded. She looked at Zhi Yao worriedly, "Little fox, why not...I'll take this fox with me? My cousin is allergic to other animals...Plus he really doesn't like seeing them."

Zhi Yao made a sound of agreement.

She knew Pei Chiyao was not allergic to her because she was not an ordinary fox. But it was different for this little fox.

If Pei Chiyao had an allergic reaction because of her saving this fox, that would not be good.

Pei Ning carried the fox, about to bring it home. Her house was in a villa just a few buildings over, very close by, which was why she could come see Zhi Yao every day.

Zhi Yao sent Pei Ning to the door, but suddenly seemed to recall something. She anxiously started pacing around.

Pei Ning did not understand at first what Zhi Yao was trying to get across. But when she saw Zhi Yao suddenly flip forward, she immediately understood and laughed, "Don't worry, I'll take good care of her."
